4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 joet (1851) - Fulton, USA - JUL 14, 2006
Wow, refreshing, crisp. I’d love to have this super fresh. Stil this is very good. Hints of the coriander, lemony, maybe a little more body or a little more effervescence/sparkle -- I could go either way -- but the body feels a tinge thin or flat. The general feelign was that this was a perfectly thirst quenching beer that could have been kicked up a notch by greater acidity, flavor and/or effervescence. Still a wonderful beer.

Bottle picked up somewhere a month or two back. Served in a SAVOR wine glass.
Pours a clear light golden color with a thin white head and some spotty lacing. The nose carries some really great wheat character along with a light touch of oak and funk. Slight acidity there as well. Reminds me a bit of a berliner. Flavor confirms that last point. The wheat and bugs combine for a really pleasing dryness. Great balance and supreme drinkability. Light body with crisp -- yet not over the top -- carbonation. Slight acidity to the finish. Extremely solid. Beautiful beer.

On tap at Bangers & Lace Chicago. Refreshing and sweet. Maybe too sweet. Banana and vanilla flavors. Not tart in my opinion.

Pours pale opaque yellow with a huge, thick, dense creamy head that stays for the whole glass. Aroma is subtle tartness, clove, pear, apple. Taste is lemon, French oak, subtle hay/farmyard, some yeast, apple, and pear. Body is light and effervescent, slick, medium carbonation. Overall, pretty good but not one of my faves from JP.

Big bottle, batch 835, bought at Vinmonopolet Vika. Unclear, grey-golden body colour, firm white head, spotty lace. Hay, wheat and coriander to the nose. Dry, tart and sweet elements in the taste profile. Dry citrus shells. Lingering dry, bitter fruity ending. Medium bodied. Refreshing witbier. Should be very nice on a hot summer’s day (hotel room, Oslo 05.01.2012).

750ml bottle. This is the best wit beer I have tried. The aroma is filled with apples, citrus, lemons, spices, sweet malt notes. The flavor is similar, apples, spices, lemon, citrus, and sweet malts. A fun, interesting beer.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Svesse (4212) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - DEC 9, 2011
(Bottle) Pale golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, slightly acidic nose with notes of yeast, lemon peel, peaches, grass, jasmine and a touch of barnyard. Fruity taste with lemon, grass, hints of yeast, coriander, dry white wine and slightly funky hints of barnyard. A dry, refreshing tartness in the finish. Medium body, dry. More character than in most witbiers, with influences from both lambic and bière de garde. Nice and tasty with lots of character.

Bottle. Fizzy white head that doesn’t stay long, slight gusher; very hazy lemon yellow. Light spice, funk, sourness, oaky, and sour peach. Nice tartness, hay, slight tart peaches and pear...citrusy and finishes slightly sour. Lighter body with good carbonation. Tasty.
