3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On-tap at the AA cafe. Pours dark brown with a white frothy head. Nose is bitter coffee beans & a bit of malt along with some nice vegetable celery & floral hops. Taste is bitter, oily coffee, some dark malt, and young coffee bean that reminds me of arugula on the finish. Slightly bitter, but fairly balanced with a little funk.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2/1/15. 750mL bottle from Happyís, Cedar Falls. Murky brown pour with a nice khaki head and good lacing. Sour aroma, caramel, Brett, a mild chocolate sense. Weird, rich flavor. Some spiced accents, lingers a little hot, also spice from the yeast, mixes with chocolate, biscuits, a slight chalkiness, coffee, some tartness... there is a lot going on, but Iím not 100% convinced it works. Strange stuff, but Iím sorta digging it.

1.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle 4/12 dating. The pour is a darker brown with a full thick head. The aroma is some sour funk and very light coffee. The taste is a cluster F. A bunch of bland flavors. A can't even describe the flavor anything more than dirty dishwater.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Thanks, Kevin. Swampy & mucky, opaque brown trudge water. Slow gusher. Enormous beige head piles up & lasts for years. Annoyingly long actually. Chunky lace all over the glass; the only savior for this poopy looking brew. Nose is a mix of dusty, roasted, old coffee beans & slightly tart fruit with undertones of citrus peel, oak, & mild tannins. Hints of leafy spice & some seemingly yeast heavy esters in the periphery. Strange, different, but not bad. Despite the tartness presence in the aroma, there is almost none in the flavor. Flavor is mostly murky, oily coffee beans with a moderately heavy roast. Hops are more vibrant with semi-floral undertones, along with a hint of cola, tannin, & musty oak. Allowing this to warm brings out even more complexity; toasty yeast, earthy esters, dirt, mild smoke, sweet lemon & apple, & vague spiciness. I guess that MAYBE thereís a SLIGHT hint of tartness way in the back. But this is far from the "sour" saison that itís labeled. Either way, a super unique brew. Not as dry as many JP offerings, but still in the sub 1.005 FG range. Different, pretty good.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at a recent tasting, thanks to ferris. Dark brown pour, offwhite head, some lacing. Aroma is huge on the peppers/hot sauce. More chili spice than smoke, chocolate. Taste is more muted. Dry, malty, almost leathery. Medium- body, lively carb. Overall: not my favorite of these guys, but fun to try.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
March is early for a tornado in Dexter. I remember them coming in the late spring and summer. Dang.
As a JP fanboy I was quite happy to get to try this at a Seattle tasting. Was it Ferris that brought it? In any case, thanks!
Pours very dark with a nice tan head. The aroma is super-spicy. I get a blast of hot sauce with some underlying hints of sourness. Itís certainly baffling and hard to know what to expect from the flavor. The first sip is a bit of a surprise. Itís another blend of gently tart Jolly Pumpkin character, but with that comes some drying coffee (nowhere to be found in the aroma) through the background. As I drink more of the beer and as it warms, the intensity of the pepper / hot sauce character wanes and the beer gets considerably better. Itís not my favorite Jolly Pumpkin but Iím very glad to have tried it.
tl;dr summary: Look out, Dany, this is one weird farmhouse ale.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750mL bottle, pours a dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out smoke, spiciness, leather, and oak. Flavour is unusual, with lots of leather, smoke, and spices upfront. Extremely odd notes, but it all works together somehow. Very nice one.

Bottle - Peppery, spice and perfumy. Deep clear brown with a light beige head. Spicy, peppery, grassy and a tart dry finish. Complex and odd.
