Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Aug 31, 2009 750ml batch 335 shared by BOLTZ7555 – you da man J! Pours cloudy dark gold with a 2 finger beige head with spotty lacing. The nose is spicy yeast and clovey nutmeg. The taste is funk, raw chestnuts and spice with some astringent sour taste in the finish. Medium bodied. An ok beer. Thanks again J for the opportunity. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Aug 29, 2009 Bottle acquired via trade with JAXSON...thanks again Jeremy!!! After the lineup we tried (Blabaer, Frambozen, Rosso E Marrone), this one had a hard time holding its own. Tasty, though. Murky burnt copper pour produced a 1-finger ivory head that didn’t leave much in the way of lacing. Aroma is earthy, spicy, funky, and citrusy. Flavor is much more malty, bready, and biscuity than others in the style. A little watery, both in flavor and palate. Not bad. arrogantb (695), Denver, Colorado, USA Aug 17, 2009 Another really cool label from JP with a fairy looking creature holding some sort of puzzle. This is a really bright orange color with a 1cm white head. The smell is funky, spicy, musty, and swampy. A little stinkier than the other Jolly Pumpkin beers I have had. The first taste is grassy, sour, and dry at the end. maybe some tart lemon flavor as it warms.
05/16/08 batch 244,245
Excellent orange appearance. Funky smell, herbal. Lemony spritzy flavor with an interesting finish. There is some sour going on but it is faint and enjoyable. Some biscuity malts and then a dry finish iwth sour edges.

Bitter with sour notes. Hoppy finish. Fruity grapes and spice. Woody and lemony finish. masonjer (558), Holt, Michigan, USA Aug 1, 2009 Well, my last regular bottled beer. Pours a clear orange color with a nice white head. Aroma is musty, with orange, clove and spice. Taste is lemon acidity, earthy bitterness, nutty, and some spice. This one surprised me. The balance of this beer was perfect for my tastes. Nothing was out of balance, everything playing of each other nicely. Well rounded and enjoyable. Really well done for a hard to do style. joeyplush (328), Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 24, 2009 Batch 336. Clear dark copper color and white head that starts off creamy. Appearance looks like an APA. Aroma is tart, with hints of dark cherry. Flavor is also tart, light hints of kreik beer. Finish is on the sour side and a bit watery. Madsnp (609), Odense C, Denmark Jul 24, 2009 Bottle. Pours golden coloured with a nice off white head. Aromas of bread, orange peel, cinnamon and nuts. Tart and fruity flavour with notes of bready malt, spice, orange fruit and herbs. dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA Jul 9, 2009 Pours a light amber orange, a bit hazy and some sediment, thick white head that leaves lots of lacing and sticks around for entire drink. Aroma of tart fruits, slight malt, lots of spice, and a little bit of nuts. Flavor is smooth with obvious tart fruit (mostly perfectly ripe cherries), spices, herbs, and a little grapefruit bitterness in the back. Mouthfeel is lively with decent carbonation, slightly slick and then ends dry. Really quite enjoyable.
