3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle, shared by tjthresh. Pour is a murky brown - orange with a big, fluffy dirty white head. There is some visible sediment. Aroma of some nuttiness and only a whisper of the signature JP barnyard funkiness. Taste is pretty interesting, roasted nuttiness, some bright acidity and a nice full body. The finish highlights the lingering chestnut. Some traces of the barnyard yeasty funkiness, but certainly the most subdued of any JP I have had.

750ml bottle. What a gusher. I think Ron owes me some of my money back. Pours orange working on brown. Thick off white head with brown spec and good lace. Light barrel nose and lightly nutty. Tart dry oaky flavor. Not much funk. Nutty and peppery. Medium body. High carbonation. Dry finish. Not the typical JP.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
One of the best smelling American beers Iíve had in a long time. Very gueuze-ish in aroma. Tart apples and oranges, quite funky and bretty. Like a stinky old cheese covered in mold! The taste is a bit of a letdown after the beautiful nose, basically a tamed version of it. The brett is a surprisingly quiet for JP, while the malt flavors balance the spice out perfectly. Do I also sense a bit of hoppiness dancing with the acidic and tart nature of of the yeast? Hmm. Interesting! The aftertaste is very akin to that of mineral water, which kept me sipping for a long time. Not my favorite from JP, but still quite enjoyable.
EDIT!: I went downstairs to finish the second half of the bottle, and found that with the yeast added to the glass itís a different monster altogether. I had to bump the appearance (because the lacing was so freaking beautiful) the taste (because it got SO much more intense), and the overall (because I loved it).

24 Dec 07. 750mL bottle. Pours clear medium brown color, white froathy head. Big head. Aroma of sour, yeasty, belgian ales. Sweet malts. Flavor is of a light bodied brown ale. A+ Hints of vanilla and toasty malts.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml bottle. Aromas start off a bit spicy and move to tart. Flavors are similar. Spice, nutty, yeasty, then tart. Finish is a bit dry after the tartness leaves the tounge. I like it.

Bit of malt and caramel with spice. But from whatever I remember, changed when all JPs got funky.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with a thin white head that quickly goes to a thin film and collar that leaves some lacing.
The aroma is doughy malts with tart, slightly sour, fruits and some spices.
The flavor is earthy yeast with some bready malts. It has some tart and slightly sour fruits, wood and some spices and a dry lightly bitter finish. It has a bit of a washed out and watery flavor. The mouthfeel is medium with lots of sharp carbonation.
Overall, itís a pretty typical JP brew, although not one of their better ones. Iíd prefer more sourness and less watery flavors.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From bottle, no 17 at Papsoes blindtasting. Pours hazy orange with a collapsing head. Brett aroma, citric to acidic. Flavour is subdued sweet and with a classic brett flavour of acidic to citric notes. Quite nice. Finish holds a nice caramel sweetness beneath and smooth and controlled brett flavour. Mellow and nice. Far finish holds a mild woody tone.

750ml bottle. Hazy golden amber with a huge white head. Sour/tart aroma of brett. Some spiciness as well. A big tart, funky, brett taste. Very dry finish. Extremely drinkable. Big fan of this.
