Autumn Fire
Ale brewed with chestnut and spices
To catch a bit of soft radiance in each special bottle, we wait for fall colors to begin their bright and fleeting glow before brewing this wonderful ale under their autumn fire. Gentle amber malts lead smooth caramel notes, gently lapping against a shore of distant forgotten spice. A beer to contemplate and enjoy!

750 ml green bottle poured a lightly hazy amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of oak, fruittiness, leather and spice. Palate was light to medium bodied smooth and lightly tart. Flavors of oak, leather, barnyard, fruittiness and light spice with a smooth lightly tart lingering bitter finish.

Pours amber with a patchy white head, fizzy, and some spotty lacing. Aroma is sour fruit (citrus, cherry, raspberry), water logged wood, malt (meal), yeast (dough) and an alcohol nose. Medium bitterness, tart sweetness, low acidity, malty wood flavor, hint of vinegar and tart cherries. Medium bodied and fizzy, dry palate.

from Erzbierschof - hazy reddish-amber beer with no foam left; sourish aroma of vinegar with notes of cherries and old apples; pretty sourish and full-bodied, subtle carbonation and very dry; long aftertaste of apples, some hop presence and vinegar

Deep orange, small head. Bizarre aroma - odd fruitiness and brett acidity, but with a noticeable malt component too. Palate crisp. Orange taste, some dry spices too, old cloves perhaps, and a touch of soap. Sourness doesn’t fit in perfectly. Certainly interesting and well-made beer (though the brett is clearly not spontaneous, and sticks out a mile), but not my style.

Bottle @ home. Dark burnt red-orange appearance with a medium to large sized orange-cream colored head. Quite sour aroma on top of a spicy Belgian ale-style smell. Flavor has medium amber maltiness, fairly well spiced with a pretty sour fruity sourness. Fairly sour and somewhat spicy finish.

Tasting at mcbackus. Hazy apricot color. Funky, woody aroma. Funk, sour, tart, woody flavor. Again I just cannot get into sours. This one was ok, just not my style.
