Autumn Fire
Ale brewed with chestnut and spices
To catch a bit of soft radiance in each special bottle, we wait for fall colors to begin their bright and fleeting glow before brewing this wonderful ale under their autumn fire. Gentle amber malts lead smooth caramel notes, gently lapping against a shore of distant forgotten spice. A beer to contemplate and enjoy!

This copper ale poured with a decent off-white head and a sour aroma. The flavor, too, is mildly sour over an interesting malt base. There are some nice spices to enhance the recipe.

Bottle. (Batch 244/245). Pour is a cloudy amber with streams of small bubbles and a head that is small for JP... sits at about two fingers. Aromas are skunky funk with an acidic edge. Falvor holds true to the aroma and sour and funk dominate... lemon peel and oak in the finish.

Bottle, courtesy sebletitje. Pours a hazy mango and copper color, with a fizzy white head and lacing. Aromas of spicy hoppiness, and mostly brett, dry clove, and cinnamon. Some apple cider too. Flavor is very dry with a bretty element with bread, cereal, and a spicy body gives way to a crunchy interesting finish. Very interesting character, doesn’t work THAT well but it’s still drinkable.

Bottle courtesy of sebletitje. Pours a hazy dark golden color with amber highlights and a thin white head. Aroma is malty and spicy with notes of brett, bread, spice, flowers, yeast, floral hops. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of spice, honey, brett and nuts. Generally medium body with a pleasing sweet brett finish.

Plesantly tart, but in no way overbearing. Somewhat sour reminicent of my favorite style (Flemish). A tasty brew not to be missed by fans of the JP.

Orange-amber in colour with a very large and long lasting white head, excellent lacing. The aroma is yeasty, light spice, berries, some wood with a moderate sweetness. The flavour is yeasty/musty, quite fruity, apple and green grape tartness, very light spice but the sweetness is a bit more pronounced. Lightly bitter mouthfeel, medium/light body, high carbonation. Finishes lightly spicy, yeasty and quite long.

This had some insane carbonation making it very hard to pour. Toning that down will make this a bit more drinkable.

750ml bottle obtained in a trade with Beerlando, thanks Bryan.
Opened on December 15, 2008.
Bottle from 2007.

Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Pours clear amber with a nice, staying, frothy, off-white head. Aroma has notes of oranges, chestnuts, strawberries, ginger and brett. Some wood in there as well. Fine, dry mouthfeel. Light with a subtle small-bubbled carbonation. Flavour has some brett or white wine tartness, sweet caramel, nuts, ginger and yeast. Long, lingering, light tart aftertaste. Very drinkable.

This is the 1st of a roughly 100 beer backlog to be rated by the King of Suds. Bottle from Craft Ale. Pours clear deep caramelly coppery with 2-finger off-white head. Nose is earthy peaty, malty, with some piney and sour mashy fruit notes. Tastes tart, fruity, with earthy, nutty, and spicy notes at forefront, and a balanced malt late. Not terribly complex or palate hefty, this one is enjoyable but not an earth beater. I would not pay 20 bucks for this again, whatever that is worth.

Bottled. Cloudy dark orange. Lightly acidic fruit aroma with medicinal notes. Dry and fruity with lively mouthfeel. Notes of melon and a light, lambic-like lactic acidity. Feels fresh and has a lot of complex flavours, but the medicinal notes are on the strong side.

750. Beer is cloudy, medium caramel brown with a large, pale pink, frothy, mostly lasting, diminishing head.
The aroma is malty with moderate notes of toasted grain, trace caramel and light cookie; Hoppy with light notes of grapefruit oil, resin/pine, trace floral; Yeasty with light notes of basement, trace of dough and horseblanket; Moderate miscellaneous note of alcohol, decompsing leaf and apple. Reminds me a bit of Medovina’s harvest Cyzer.
The flavor is moderately acidic/sour, lightly bittersweet with a long, lightly bitter, lightly acidic/sour finish.
The body is medium, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is average.
