Autumn Fire
Ale brewed with chestnut and spices
To catch a bit of soft radiance in each special bottle, we wait for fall colors to begin their bright and fleeting glow before brewing this wonderful ale under their autumn fire. Gentle amber malts lead smooth caramel notes, gently lapping against a shore of distant forgotten spice. A beer to contemplate and enjoy!

@Pauls Gathering courtesy of vtafro-750 ml bottle-pours a thin white head and hazy yellow/gold color. Aroma is wine, musty light fruit, light malt. Taste is oak, leather, musty light fruit, light malt, earthy hops.

Shared a bottle of this with BeerBaron617. It poured a nice hazy orange/amber/chestnut color with a thick off white foamy head. Doesn’t have the super sour aroma that many Jolly Pumpkin beers have. It tasted sour, but not quite as sour as some we have had. The spices in the flavor are quite subtle, and it wasn’t very remarkable.

Thanks to footbalm for this one I had high expectations for this beer and I was disappointed. First of all, I tasted neither chestnuts nor spices. In fact, it tasted simply like a sour beer.

Bottle. Dark amber colour with a big off-white head. Light acid, fruity, citrus, gueuze like aroma and taste. Medium body with a light dry finish.

750ml bottle poured into a shaker. This beer pours orange-yellow and murky with a large creamy head. The aroma is tart and fruity. This is a pretty sour beer but it has a saison feel to it. It’s okay but not really my style.

Pretty much tastes like pure brett with a slight hint of chestnuts. Has nice carbonation and a nice mouth feel. I like some Brett beers and a lot of sours; this was not one of them.

Thanks to JohnC for sharing. Mostly just tart malty flavors, was not able to detect any benefit from barrel aging likely due to sourness that overpowered the whole experience.

NorCal tasting July 07 - This is one beer from Jolly Pumpkin that I just couldn’t get into. An aroma of ginger and bubblegum, a touch nutty, malty and it brings the obvious funk into everything. Appearance is amber in color with a huge head. Flavors were mostly dominated by the sourness of the beer, but underneath it it carried some caramel-nuttyness to it along with a bit of dark fruity (figs?). Hard to tell due to the Brett.

Sampled from a big bottle. Amber-gold body, fine lacing from a fair white head. Tart and sweet aromas, mix of caramel and red berries. More of the same to the taste buds; Almond, leafy hops, caramel, and tart red berries. Dry, tart and a bit spicy to the ending. Aright, but really not my kind of beer (Grand Tasting, RBNG, Halden 15.02.2014).

OK, it’s official, I’m not a fan of Jolly Pumpkin beers. The last one was classified as a Sour Ale, and I didn’t like it. This one is classified as a Belgian, and it tasted again like a Sour Ale. 750ml bottle, poured a nice clear amber with a foamy off-white head. Very nice looking beer. Aroma was of tart, sour apple. Taste was tart, sour, and biting. Poured this one down the drain.
