NobleSquirrel (1100), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 9, 2009 Bottle at Sheffield’s. Pours a hazy, dirty brown. Nose is real pumpkin, a little funk. Devoid of spice (which is a good thing). There is a bit of wood and earth in the nose as well. On taste, a very pleasant and soft acidity that compliments the squash notes. Not overlly sweet and drinks quite well. Pretty nice one, this. pantanap (1323), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 6, 2009 750ml bottle from jeremy and chris...pours a hazy orange caramel brown with a thin flimsy whitish head... lightly spiced and a nice oaky tartness... flavor doesn’t live up to as well as the aroma. dries up quick with a lot less spice and pumpkin flavor but a bit of it still permeates.... ogglethorp (882), Ohio, USA Nov 4, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy copper color with a thin off white head. Aroma is cinnamon, raw pumpkin, lomon zest. Flavor is pumpkin, cocoa, lemon zest, nutmeg, cinnamon, light oak. Palate is medium to light bodied, medium to light carbonation, tastes tart up front then finished quite smooth. Very nice, the pumpkin and spices are kept in check as you would expect from a JP beer. I liked this one quite a bit, different for a "Pumpkin beer", well done! Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Oct 28, 2009 Bottle (Batch 436/437) : The aroma consists of nutmeg, cinnamon, pumpkin, and a hint of lemony sourness. It pours a hazy, bordering on cloudy, orange with a quarter inch off-white head that fades to a thin foam surrounded by a slightly thicker ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with some very mild pumpkin flavors followed by some hints of nutmeg, cinnamon, and pepper. The finish has a nice light lemony tartness and just a hint of oak. I’d say it’s pretty much what you expect a JP beer to be with some light pumpkin and spices. BillKismet (1899), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 11, 2009 Nice orange-amber, ok haed. Aroma is mildly malty with slight pumpkin essence and hints of cocoa, though mostly mellow. Easy pumpkin flavor, subtle spicing and intimation of cinnamon. checkmatei1 (630), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 6, 2009 Draft at Capones 12/13/08: Poures a sunset orange with not much head. The aroma was grass, oak, lemons and spice. The flavor was smooth, funky, citrus and pumpkin. Overall, this wasn’t an overly pumpkin spice beer, just the way I like it. kkearn (995), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 27, 2008 Draft at Capones (Norristown, PA) on 11/28/08. Pours orange golden, capped with a thin off-white head. Mild aroma, a bit vegetal, with typical JP soap, yeast, and wood. Flavor is subdued as well, with vegetables, earth, soap, wood, and pumpkin meat. Long yeast and earth finish. Pumpkin was less pronounced than I expected.
riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Dec 17, 2008 Medium tart funky JP aroma on the nose. A touch of vegetal notes from the pumpkin probably. Orange brown beer with a thin head. The flavor is kind of vegetal, like squash I would presume. A little tart flavors, some oak, wood, funk. Dry finish. Almost uncarbonated. This did not work for me.
