Ok, so the joke was that Jolly Pumpkin doesn’t brew a pumpkin beer. Well, now we do. Just this one. Packed with real pumpkins, hints of spice, and a gentle kiss of cocoa to liven the soul. An everyday easy way to fill your squashy quotient. Guess now folks will have to find something else to joke about...

Wow, wow, wow! This beer is fantastic! I don’t really taste any pumpkin but I do taste rich sour apricot. There is some La Roja in there but with a soft round fruitiness. Bitter lemon rind off the back of the tongue. My nose did not want to leave the rim of the glass. Appearance perfection. Golden and cloudy. I am going to mix this with the Bruery’s Autumn Maple to get a more pronounced pumpkin/yam flavor.

Excellent amount of complexity. The pumpkin is subtle but apparent enough that it gives it a unique characteristics. The aroma is the best part. Incredibly aromatic. Just an excellent beer for a fancy picnic with the girl you love on a warm Miami day.

Slight opaque dark orange. White head, solid lacing. Tart aroma, typical jolly pumpkin...awesome. Smooth malty backbone, light spices, masked though the sours. The year of age may not have helped the pumpkin.

This lovely Jolly beer pours a dark golden orange with a thick white head. It smells of all the magically things you dreamed it would with some malt, spice, pumpkin and a touch of tart. At this point I would like to mention that I enjoy sours and I enjoy pumpkin brews and here we have a little of both. I know, it is exciting. Now that I have stated my bias for the styles we have in this barrel aged beauty, allow me to rant about how wonderful it is. There is this nice pumpkin, cinnamon, brett, toasted malt to start and a well balanced tart, dry finish. I actually found new flavors the deeper I got into the bomber. I need to go buy another bottle to age and compared notes later. Buy this beer. Hunt for it if you must.

Year old 750ml bottle courtesy of tytoanderso. Pours a BEAUTIFUL golden orange with a small white head with a small amount of sediment floating around. Big aroma consisting of pumpkin, sour yeast, spices (nutmeg, cloves, coriander), with an almost mentholated funk. Largely tart flavor, minerals, grassy upfront with the pumpkin flavors subtlety lingering behind a large layer of funk. Acidic as hell. Awesome. High level of carbonation usher in spices and funk that roll into an acidic finish. never thought I would like a pumpkin beer so much. Fantastic! Thank you tytoanderso for sharing this wonderful beer!!!

Aroma: Sour, barnyard, pumpkin pie, allspice. Appearance: Cloudy copper pour. Dense, tawny head with excellent retention and lacing. T: Tart, horse blanket, allspice, pumpkin pie (slight). As the brew warmed, the pumpkin pie charcter increased a bit, though not as "pumpkiny" as some others of the style I’ve had, such as Southern Tier’s Pumking P: Well carbonated, nicely dry finish, well-balanced. OA: I’m a huge fan of JP’s ales, and this one is no exception. I’d class it as more of a sour rather than in the vegetable/spice/herb class. The pumpkin is muted and the sour really overshadows it.
