I would have to sit them both down in front of me. But, read my review of the regular roja and add to this one that I thought it was amazingly more delicious for reasons that I can’t explain. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 28, 2007 thanks cmubeerman. a mild JP. not super sour. not a lot of wood character. pretty much the normal la roja without as much bite. hard to say whether that makes it better or worse. Luckily la roja was one of the few JP’s that i wasn’t repulsed by. This one i think is actually less noxious than that. the sour viniger flavors aren’t as obnoxious in this. that being said, there wasnt much going on. Dunk (35), SoCal, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 24, 2007 Cloudy amber in color with frothy head. Nice funky nose with some oak / vanilla coming through. Medium body with flavors of fruit, nutty malt, vanilla with distinct sourness and wood. Nice - quite different from the regular version. argo0 (7044), Washington DC, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 23, 2007 (12oz bottle) Medium beige head atop fleck-filled deep amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, wood, cherry sourness, some caramel, light bourbon. Taste is mild sweet, sour cherry, wood, vanilla/bourbon. Effervescent medium body with moderate acidity. Decent, but I much prefer the regular La Roja -- even though the bourbon aging doesn’t overwhelm the wonderful beer underneath, it certainly does it no favors. bb (2976), Martinez, California, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Aug 16, 2007 Sampled during the First Annual Stone Sour Fest. On Cask. Advertised as JP LR Select. Cloudy orangish brown with a huge head. Lots of nice molassas on the aroma. Flavors were a bit of nuttiness, some caramel and vanilla, a bit of bandage, and a huge alcohol burn. Not sure if the high alcohol intensity was because it was on cask or what????
