A- Cloudy opaque dirty orange/amber hue, huge amounts of off-white creamy foam spill over the glass, large swaths of lacing S- Sour and tangy fruits, caramel malts, floral hops, tones of oak, spices, and peach T- Light and fruity sourness (mostly apples and pears) give rise to floral hops and an underlying backbone of caramel malts, finishes dry and sour M- Light/medium bodied, creamy smooth texture, loads of carbonation D- One uniquely sour and fruity red/wild ale, taste profile is on the lights side, easy to drink but likely wouldn’t have too much in one sitting due to the fruity sourness

Jolly Pumpkin’s La Roja 2/7/09 (bomber, split during beer tasting. Appeared orange with a frothy head. Aroma has prominent funkiness, with earthy notes as well. Flavor is highly vinous, with a bit of malt, sour green apple, and champagne (yeast?). Finishing palate is allowed to linger on a semi-sour note.

(on bottle) Dark amber, small, white head. The wood are very present; like real old, wet wood, niceness. I get hazel, cherries vanilla and sweet tobacco along with the perfect balanced tartness, sublime. Such a huge aroma dosen´t leave much space for taste; the massive use of barley are present, but it´s the sheer aroma that blows me away.

On draft at Redlight Redlight. Though, I have had it in the bottle several times. Pours a more red tinted amber with just a little white head. Oak, cherries, funk and malt are the major flavors. The draft version is fresh and a fruity sour. The funk is a little deminished, but I think this beer actually benefits from that. Very good on draft.

750ml bottle at Novare Res. Pours a light reddish brown with an off-white head. Aroma is strong oak barrel, hints of malt, and funk in the nose. Flavor is also pretty dominated by oaky flavors and finishes with a funky yeast flavor. Not that sour, just a hint of it here and there. This is a pretty nice little beer.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Cloudy red wutg a beige head. Rather vinous funky aroma of oak, caramel, malt and some musty notes. Sourish-sweetish flavor with a bit of barnyard notes, some berries hints, some other fruits and some citric notes. Medium-bodied with strong carbonation.

750mL bottle. Pours hazy red with small off white head. Aroma is sour - perfectly enticing. The taste is sweet and awesome notes of sourness. A hint of caramel spice.

750 mL bottle purchased at Greenwood Spirit Shoppe in Bowling Green. Poured a hazy dark amber color with red highlights and a three finger, creamy tan head, that looked almost red as well. The aroma was of citrus, lemon, cherries and a bit of funk. The flavor was citric, with sour cherries present in the finish. The flavor really wasn’t too complicated. The palate was above average, with good carbonation, a slick mouthfeel and a medium body. I really liked this beer. My appreciation of sours is growing with every good example I try.
