sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 20, 2008 Pours amber.
Aroma of nice light sourness.
Taste is oak wood and fruity with nice apple/cider notes.
Good carbonation, the sour taste remains light, making the beer very enjoyable to drink.
Nice barrel oak taste that make this part of Jolly Pumpkin’s unique line of sour beers. ajm (903), Los Angeles, California, USA Nov 20, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Quite mellow, with very soft mustard and spice notes in the nose. Flavor is a rather full and sour-grapes fruit-filled sensation that ends roundly. Not noticeably spicy or yeasty. TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Nov 2, 2008 Blend 3, 2008 - Poured into tulip glasses. Dark amber with a mostly maintained foamy tan head. Notes of red wine, fruit and oak blend well. Light to moderate acidity. Medium to full bodied with a light sourness and lush carbonation. Very enoyable beer, I think I’ll be buying more. BritAlesRule (84), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Nov 2, 2008 I must have got an evil bottle, because the beer inside it wants the hell out! Really, I’ve poured an entire glass and it’s still crawling out through the top! Nose is sour and funky, but not too much. I’ts a dry drink with big marbely chunks of head floating atop. Fruity and mildly sour. Sour fruits in the chase and simply delicious. It’s really damn good. chicagobears (336), Elk Grove Village, Illinois, USA Nov 1, 2008 Pours an amber orange. Decent head retention. A sour fruit and spicy hop aroma. Flavor is tart, complex and wine like. Finish is dry with oak wood abundance. A not too much, too little sourness. Classy stuff. NosirIwont (1162), Aalborg Vestby, Denmark Oct 28, 2008 Bottle. 10 cl. sample. Pours a clear, deep reddish brown with a light brown head. Aroma is dry red wine with some spicy notes. Tart flavour which doesn’t open up until the finish; still tart but with dry red wine notes like the aroma. A nice beer, but a bit boring in the long run. Still, quite good. 28-10-08. thewolf (5662), Kolding, Denmark Oct 25, 2008 Bottle. [thank you skortila/caesar]
Pours deep red orange with a fine, creamy, staying, off-white head. Aroma is great. Some oak, cherries, vanilla, cardemum, citrus and light hops. Highish carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour is quite hoppy dry, some clear oak, a bit of biscuity malts and citric acid. Some fruity tartness, especially at the first of each taste. Then the oak takes over, mellows the tartness and then some maltiness, grapes and light spice finish it off nicely. FastEddie (178), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Oct 23, 2008 Pours a slightly orange, cloudy amber. Nice, complex aroma and flavor. Citrusy and hoppy but without much bitterness as such. This is probably the most full-bodied and complex sour ale I’ve had to date.
