Commercial Description:
La Roja, an artisan amber ale brewed in the Flanders tradition. Deep amber with earthy caramel, spice and sour fruit notes developed through natural barrel aging. Unfiltered, unpasteurized and blended from barrels ranging in age between two and ten months. Truly an ale of distinction.

Bottle with the old oval label, my beer guy told me he’d aged this before putting it out. Pours amber with a taut, off white head. Aroma of cherries, bourbon, oak, apples, leaves. Flavor is stunning: it starts slightly sour with a rush of sour cherries and oak, a bit of bourbon, then a clean sour finish. Mouthfeel is great, and overall this is one of the best tasting beer i’ve ever had in my life.

Reddish brown with next to no head. Aroma of mild paint thinner, sour cherries and wood. Taste of cherry, mild fruit, berry, grain, wood. Sour as expected throughout but a decent beer as I’m becoming a fan of the style.

Hazy amber with tiny beige head. Sour aroma with wood and sour fruits. Sour flavour with sour berries, wood, citric and barnyard notes. Finishes sour. Nice!

Dark cherry red color, small pinky head. Light woody, sour cherry aroma. Oaky-woody, cherry-fruity flavor, lightly sour. Alcoholic dry oaky aftertaste. Interesting "artisan amber ale".

(Bottled, 0.75l) Hazy red-amber with a small head. Sourish-fruity aroma. Sourish flavor with some herby vinegar feel. Medium body, slightly fizzy carbonation. A nicely tart ale, but not the most pleasant one.

Bottle at Nørrebro Bryghus. Pours a hazy golden/amber colour with a white head. Aroma is very sour, acidic but still sweet. Flavor is sour and acidic. Not the biggest fan of sour ales, but I liked this one.

Pours a hazy red with a huge off-white head. Smells of yeast, funk, a touch of alcohol, and citrus fruit. Lively, prickly carbonation. Flavor is sour fruit with some bitter, dough-like yeast. Feels a bit thin on the palate and the acidity is low for a sour ale. Overall, the flavor is mild and very drinkable.
