Commercial Description:
La Roja, an artisan amber ale brewed in the Flanders tradition. Deep amber with earthy caramel, spice and sour fruit notes developed through natural barrel aging. Unfiltered, unpasteurized and blended from barrels ranging in age between two and ten months. Truly an ale of distinction.

Pours gold with a tall effervescent head. Aroma is funky and sour, as well as fruity as some lemon shows through. The flavor is light and funky, not overly sour, with some bready yeast in the finish.

750 ml bottle. Pours a clear rosy mahogany with a course off-white head. Woody, earthy nose with a hint of fruity twang. Dry medium body. Initially oaky with a touch of vanilla leading to a funky earthy mix of fruit, spice and twang. Finishes dry leaving you to ponder the flavors that passed so quickly.

25.4 oz. glass bottle- color of dark honey, with a thick cream colored head - nose of sour dried apricots, berries, biscuit and floral – taste of sour fruit, earthy, apricots, chalky, sand cobwebs - body is medium, and dry, and with high carbonation – aftertaste of spices, earthy, dry, and short

Nice head, nice lace, aroma of sour, citrusy aroma. Couldn’t really smell any hops distinctly. Takes sort of like a Flemish sour, but not as musty and with more carbonation in the nose on bigger sips.Mouthfeel just slightly thin, but the distinctive taste that defies easy classification more than makes up for it.Different and enjoyable.I’ll be getting more.

Poured a hazy golden color with ruby highlights into the flute glass. A ridiculous head stuck around a while as the lacing stayed on the edges. A very sour scent with hints of vinegar. A rush of vinegar, pickle juice, vanilla, oak, and citrus rush the palate and wake it up. Very complex and dry. This was the first sour ale that I have enjoyed, I may be warming up to the style.

bottle. poured a hazy deep amber with a big fluffy nearly-white head that stuck around forever and left thick lacing on the glass. smell is sharp lemon and orange, maybe some grapefruit, a bit of sweat, some woodiness, a bit of hops, and maybe even a hint of melon. taste is more of that, with a bit of a spicy soup flavor. there is a bit of a cherry component to the malt note, which comes out a bit more in the taste. finishes lightly dry, lightly bitter, and lightly sour. medium to light body with a resinous but quenching mouthfeel. good stuff! quite complex.

750ml bottle. Impossible to open without foaming over. Pours a reddish-amber with an out of control head. Flavor was very strange. Kinda sweet, but sour and fruity, Strange one. Didn’t really enjoy it.

Nice color and nice thick head. Initial flavor was a little too sweet for me. Had kind of a barleywine sweetness. After a while it kind of grew on me and I liked it. Nice Beer
