RichardGretton (3128), Leicestershire, England Sep 23, 2007 Bottle. Dark brown beer with a fruity and fermented aroma and a roasted, bitter and slightly malty flavour. Overall a nice fermented and fruity beer. dankman38 (228), Somewhere in, Ohio, USA Sep 22, 2007 I’m not too crazy about this beer at all, RB has it listed as a flemish sour ale (it looks like one) but it tastes and drinks a lot more like a vegetable beer. The finish seemed a little oily and bitter. This is one beer by Jolly Pumpkin I do not like. leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Sep 19, 2007 Bottle. Amber brown with a small head. Aromas are sour and fruity with yeast and citrus. Flavours are caramel malts with earthy, herbal notes. Sour with some medicinal character. Dry on the finish. keoki182 (305), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA Sep 17, 2007 GToMW 07 - Reddish brown color. Incredible sour grape/cherry notes in aroma. Great sour fruit flavor, like a very sophisticated Sour Patch Kids candy. I really loved this one. jrt (62), USA Sep 16, 2007 Very funky, sour, wooden flavored beer. Kind of a farmhouse ale in terms of mouthfeel and complexity, but extra strange compared to say, Dupont. Like an "American" Fantome, but more earthy and dry. Quite dry. If you like adventure, take a chance on this one. theisti (1638), Leawood, Kansas, USA Sep 13, 2007 750ml bottle purchased at Blue Max in Burnsville, MN. Pour is clear orange, ruby red. Gushing dirty white head. Aroma of sour funk and barnyard earthiness. Taste is more subdued than the nose, but still the barnyard sour funk. Really nice, full body. Lots of malt, and blended fruit sweetness. Everything was nicely in balance, and as mentioned, subdued. Overall an extremely drinkable beer. My favorite JP to date. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Sep 12, 2007 Updated: Nov 16, 2007Bottle. Aroma of sour cherries with balsamic vinegar. Sour wood with a bit of tartness and a hint of great spices to come. Dark murky brown with a creamy, rocky, lacing tanned head. Malty sour taste, not puckeringly so but still very firmly sour, cherries with a hint of raspberry and and earthy woody note flecked with yeast. Touch of nutmeg and flowers, touch of bourbon and only faint vinegar. Medium body but feels light, gentle prickling but not crisp (smooth all the way through); slight touch of oil. Very, very dry and earthy with a bit of caramel detected with time and warmth. Slight, dirty (autumnal - pumpkinish?) bitterness to balance the relatively mild sourness. Seemingly a wood-aged kriek made by a master from Flanders. A really nice, complex effort - and effortlessly drinkable. BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA Sep 11, 2007 Pours beautifully-- a dark red amber color. Clear, with a dense tan head. Leaves plenty of lacing on the glass. Complex aroma, musty and dank malt, with some fruit (apple comes to mind), and a slight acetic note. Flavors are a blend of sweet malt, wood, and fruit-- like sour cherry and green apple. Very nice tangy, earthy dry finish. Really complex, yet quite drinkable and smooth. Outstanding.
