jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA May 28, 2007 Bottle: Poured a bronze color with a light haze. Thick, creamy beige head lasts and lasts. Nose is initially spicey with cinnamon and cloves, turns winelike as it warms into a spicey sweet/sour. Tastes light and spicey up front, finishes with a rich woody feel. The vinous character changes as the ale warms, it seemed more balanced after about 20 minutes of warming up. Flyer (118), Hartland, Wisconsin, USA May 26, 2007 The color is a beautiful cloudy burgundy-caramel. The head is almost sculptable. At first the flavor almost seemed like a cross between a Belgian golden ale and a Flemish sour ale, but after the first few sips the sour was really coming through, in a very satisfying way. The spiciness, with subtle oak notes, almost dances on the tongue. Nicely tart, clean aftertaste. Distinctive and recommended. elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA May 26, 2007 Pours a dark amber color with a white head. Has hints of sour fruits, caramel, wood. Finishes with a clean tart taste on the tongue. marcus (1826), Sacramento, California, USA May 25, 2007 This amber ale poured with a large fluffy off-white head, and I swear it smells like pumpkin - must be subliminal. This is a very lively brew, almost sparkling, with a brilliant sour flavor backed up by a solid caramel malt character. This is truly an American version of sour ale that has outspoken rather than subtle characteristics. crizay (1050), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA May 24, 2007 Draught: Hazy brown pour, white head. Very sour aroma. I don’t want to be so typical but there beers are so sour from the oak barrels. This beer had a huge sour taste to it, caramel, toffee and actual oak came through, but it was round-housed Chuck Norris style by the sourness of the oak aging. Man I liked it but it’s so hard to describe a beer that is sour in every way. Fruits come thorugh like cherry and raisons butthe sourness rules this beer. badlizard (2326), Berkeley, California, USA May 24, 2007 Updated: Jul 2, 2007750 mL bottle. Hazy copper with big fluffy ivory head. Aroma of caramel and green apples with sour notes. Bright acidic and lively palate. Taste caramel, sour apple, and oak with a lingering sweetness to the finish. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA May 20, 2007 Updated: Sep 11, 2007Deep red color, nice aroma. Flavor has some spicy burnt notes that mingle with tartness. I can taste the oak. Its a very nice flemish sour--enjoyable. lewis13 (49), Kokomo, Indiana, USA May 18, 2007 bottle...exploded upon opening, not the glass , but lost 1/4 of the bottle just to the flowing foam all over my counter! Once I got past that, I enjoyed this beer...very dry & tiny multiple carbonation, almost remined me of a very dry sparkilng wine, but with hops...lots of them! I will seek out more from this brewery!
