redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA May 2, 2007 Sweet floral, citrus, and some berries on the aroma. Pours dark hazy amber. Malty caramel, sour, grapefruit, with a very clean finish with a malty aftertaste. I love this brewery and this beer! Frank (1064), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 1, 2007 A nice sour ale. Amber, relatively clear w/ no head. Some floral notes in the nose followed by a fruity tartness. Sweeter than expected but still somewhat lambic-like. I am always glad to see more American brewers trying stuff like this. smartlung (154), Valrico, Florida, USA May 1, 2007 bottle from World of Beer Clearwater - cloudy amber head, sweet, sour, oak, fruits - this gets better TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Apr 24, 2007 Oval Labeled Bottle. Muddy, cloudy, amber with good sized yellow white head. Lots of carbonation and very nice lace. This stuff smells awesome. Sweet, fresh, juicy, funky, earthy, oaky...everything just balances out so nicely. Flavor is initially tart and sour, with a tinge of brett and oak, but has a breadth of sweet and spicieness in the end that really works well for me. Jolly Pumpkin, I love thee. nhorween (639), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 21, 2007 Bottle. Darker than your average Biere de Garde. Reddish amber pour with a foamy off white head. Has that fresh and tart smell that it should - lambic like almost. Yeast, bread, and fresh cut grass. Kiwi. Oak and citrus, tart, light malts, good bitter finish. This is an interesting beer - not a traditional Biere de Garde, but I do like it. FLnative80 (174), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 17, 2007 Bottle. 1 Pint 9.4 fl. oz. My first biere de garde. A murky amber color with sediment settling at the bottom of my glass. Long-lasting speckled off-white head that leaves great lacing. Complex aroma of spice, malt, and fruits. Medium bodied with a creamy texture and a tangy, sour flavor that leaves a dryness in the mouth. A very interesting beer. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Apr 14, 2007 Wonderful sour aroma--with fruits and light oak behind. Dark reddish brown with a nice head. Full palate is carbonated more than its Grand Reserve brother. The taste is sour up front with some light fruits and a good wood and brett mix. Tastey for sure. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Apr 13, 2007 The aroma is of light fruit and a stronger sourness than the grand reserve.Pours a deep copper with a big off white head.Has a well balanced flavor of malt and sourness.Full mouthfeel with a well balanced finish.
