JHunter (242), British Columbia, Canada Jul 11, 2009 pours a dark amber colour and a think head which leaves big lacing. taste light sour and the oak barrel stands out the most. and leaves a light malty palate mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 7, 2009 Pours a cloudy amber-brown with a lasting layer of frothy foam and some lacing. Lightly sour aroma, sweet cherries. Significantly sour taste, acetic and astringent. Thin body with decent carbonation. Very pleasant but not as deep & complex as the Duchesse. Savvy1982 (303), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jul 5, 2009 Updated: Aug 15, 2009Bottle. Pours a dark copper-brown with a thick, white, remarkably persistent head, with spotty/ropey lacing. Nose is brett and sourness, nice tight cider apple and balsamic vinegar notes. Palate is very funky, gets better, and funkier, as it warms, showing loads more fruit, tannins, and malty flavors. Yummy! thelizard (27), Canton, Ohio, USA Jul 5, 2009 Bottle at the Beer Engine. Pours a reddish-gold with a small white head (which dissipated pretty quickly). Sour aroma, but became more likeable during drinking. Flavor was a very rich, fruity flavor. Smooth, creamy aftertaste. Went very well with rosemary fries. craftbeerdesign (731), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Jul 4, 2009 Bottle... pours a deep red with an average white head... some tart cherry aromas really shine through. La Roja is a really nice starter sour beer... It has a nice medium body with a burst of tart apple up front and a very well balanced and round finish that brings some delicate fruit forward ... including grapes, plums, apples, cherries and pairs it well with a more robust tart backbone. It is quite sour but really brings the style forward.
brokephibroke (137), Mead, Colorado, USA Jul 4, 2009 Blend 15, 2008. Orange / red pour with a tan / white, quickly dissapating head. Fruity / oaky aroma, very earthy. Sour cherry hits you immediately with oak next and a long oak finish. pilsnerrogge (1769), Finspång, Sweden Jul 3, 2009 Bottled: Blend 1, 2009 Pours reddish brown with a small head. Aroma is sourish red berries wth oaky notes. Sourish cherry flavour with lots of oak. beernbourbon (230), chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 27, 2009 Bottle. Pour is cloudy brown with large tan head. Aroma is sour cherries up front with a huge amount of wood to follow. Some mild floral notes as well. Flavor is true to nose with a burst of sour cherry up front with a large woody finish that lingers for a while. It was good but certainly have to like wood to fully enjoy this one.
