4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 30, 2010 Appearance: A deep orange/amber, almost red. Slight cloudiness. Small, smooth, white head at first pour but soon fades to a thin layer.
Aroma: Heavy oak / sour aromas. Light fruity and ester-y tones. Smells like whiskey. No particular hop or malt aroma except a tiny hint of caramel.
Taste: Very much sour, a little sweetness in the aftertaste.
Palate: Extremely smooth, medium but well-kept carbonation.
Overall: Wow, what a special brew. Never have I tasted such a smooth yet aggressively flavored beer. I was hooked after one whiff but found myself taking sip after sip to try and put words to the complex assault of flavors that were being evoked.

Amber to garnet pour light carbonation and thin white head. The great think about this one is the taste. Loads of Brett and lactic tartness. The malts were there but subdued. The balance of the sweetness to tart was 20/80 just like I love it. Some odd metallic taste on the finish otherwise it would have scored better.

Botella de 330 ml. adquirida en New Beer Distributors, LES, New York. No soy fanático de las Wild Ales pero esta se deja tomar. Rojiza y casi sin espuma.

Tap. Pours brown amber with beige head. Aroma is oaky, vanilla, caramel, some tart berries, some vinegar, funk, some yam, cherries. Taste is quite sour, really oaky, dry and spicy vanilla. Low carbonation. Long acidic finish with tons of dry oak.

Amber pour with a small white head.

Bottle at a tasting in Rome 4:20 pub on 27/08/2015, courtesy of Dino. Thank you. Pours an amber dark hazy color, quite bright appearance with a minimal off-white head. Nose: caramel, under-spirit macerated fruit. Mouth: alcohol, caramel, red wine complexity. Nice beer.

Good funk to this beer pear and plumb tastes that leave you with a slight dry mouth feel. Sour but not overly sour.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Possibly the first sour beer I ever tried, it’s still almost exactly as I remember it being six years ago. Caramel coated sour apples, a bit peppery, I recall thinking there had to be cherries in this and being shocked that there were not. Still paramount to an understanding of the style.

Drank straight from the bottle. Initial reaction was surprised because I didn’t know it would be sour. Not bad, but too sour for me
