La Roja, an artisan amber ale brewed in the Flanders tradition. Deep amber with earthy caramel, spice and sour fruit notes developed through natural barrel aging. Unfiltered, unpasteurized and blended from barrels ranging in age between two and ten months. Truly an ale of distinction.

Incredible woody, caramel, sour and acidic nose. Flavor is much the same. Deep caramel flavors, and complex woody sour notes. A fine, fine beer indeed.

There are strange and wonderful things going on in La Roja. It pours dirty red with not-white suds. The aromas are funky, fruity, and acidic. The flavor profile is an odd balance of sweet/sour/fermented. Malty caramel, booze-soaked wood, tangy cherry, sweet/tart citrus, balsamic and white vinegar, and funky earth. It’s all so unusual, all so drinkable. Rot can be fun if you let the right brewer show you how.

Bottle. A- Oak, cherries, subtle sourness, overripe stone fruit A- Orange brown color, hazy liquid, beige head. T- Oak, caramel, cherries, slightly sour. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, full finish. O- Decent. Reminded me much more of a barley wine than a sour. Aroma was good. Something in the taste that I can’t quite place that hurt it a bit for me.

Deep Amber with a nice head that leaves great lacing on the glass. Funk and earthy notes in the aroma. Sweet, sour, caramel tartness in the flavor with a tasty, tart caramel finish. Delicious!

Bottle at Erzbierschof Zurich. A light and vineous sour. Beautifully red, slightly cloudy. Very round and balanced, almost quaffable, but also one-dimensional.

Nicely tart and sour. 750ml had little head produced in the glass. Consumed in Jan-2016 and bottled in Sep-2015. This could make you pucker up with the lemony mouth feel. A great sour beer that is amber red in color.

Really enjoyed the balance of the malt and tartness. Have been hanging on to this for awhile and was pleasantly surprised with it.

Backlog. Shared bottle at Mi2 at Cardinal 06.05.13. Unclear dark golden. Aroma of gueze. Sour taste of lemon juice. Long and sour aftertaste. Relatively round mouthfeel. Well-balanced, with medium high drinkability.

Amber to garnet pour light carbonation and thin white head. The great think about this one is the taste. Loads of Brett and lactic tartness. The malts were there but subdued. The balance of the sweetness to tart was 20/80 just like I love it. Some odd metallic taste on the finish otherwise it would have scored better.
