Commercial Description:
La Roja, an artisan amber ale brewed in the Flanders tradition. Deep amber with earthy caramel, spice and sour fruit notes developed through natural barrel aging. Unfiltered, unpasteurized and blended from barrels ranging in age between two and ten months. Truly an ale of distinction.

A rich floral aroma with caramel. Pours a nice golden amber. The taste is of caramel maltiness and hints of fruit. The finsih on the palate is astringent.

Crushed with Jakebra. Kinda sour apple nose. Very subtle for a sour ale. Not as intense as others. Kinda funky and earthy, and very creamy.

Pours out a nice reddish hue of brown wiht a small lacing head. Aroma is earthy and fruity with notes of grapes, apple and wood. Nice carbonation and good mouthfeel. aste is complex with apple, grape, vanilla, wood and some brett here and there on the finish, not a lot but I knew it was there. Interesting beer and well done!

#783 for this beer, 750ml bottle. Thick, murky brown pour with a light tan head. Citrusy orange/lemon aroma, a little sweet and just a slight tartness. Tart apple flavor, a bit of sweetness and little woody character, not too shabby.

Pours a deep red amber hue with a light white head with decent lacing. Aromas of cheese, caramel, champagne. Flavors of mil, malt , nuts, a light roastiness with a light, hidden fruitiness. Pretty bad overall.

A bouncy, rocky, ultra dense off white head forms from a cloudy dark amber body. Well retained with the usual gorgeous JP lacing. Brett leads in the aroma and is followed by oak, floral hops, milk sugar, spices, cookies and caramel malt. Flavor is an anomaly: A blast of taste is so huge that I wonder how no other Biere de Garde examples I’ve had weren’t any closer in intensity. Red wine grapes and acidicy are added into the mix in an intoxicatingly delicious flavor. Also noted are robust French oak, more spices, hops, a serious amount of Brett and possibly Lactobacillus. Medium to medium-full silky soft mouthfeel with plenty of tannic acidity in a long and pleasantly sour finish. Fantastic and unique.

750mL bottle. Pours hazy red with small off white head. Aroma is sour - perfectly enticing. The taste is sweet and awesome notes of sourness. A hint of caramel spice.

Can’t thank BierBauch enough for this one. Biere de Garde’s are becoming my second favourite style. Aroma is of light honey, pasta, light fruity plum and banana. Beer comes off as a hearty brown with a tint of orange. Flavor comes off with a busy first impression. It left me with a sweat mouthfeel, but came in yeasty and earthy, more of what to expect for the style. The more I drink it, and it warms up, I get chocolate and caramel out of this, more earthy tones come out, but still in a sweet delicate way. If only my women were like that.
