4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Sour tangerines, grapes, musty oak, spicy clove, and coriander make up the complex aroma of La Roja. Orangeish brown in color, with a persistent white ring and very fine bubbles across the top of the beer. Mellow flavors of sour grape skins, some spice, vanilla and as it warms sour cherries make up the flavor. Dry, thin, high carbonation, and somewhat astringent. An excellent brew from my new favorite American brewery.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A bit of foam comes out of the bottle when I crack it open. Pours out sort of hazy, deep amber. Some foam, reducing to a thin layer in seconds. Aroma is sour and cider-lik. Earthy. Notes of fermenting apple juice. My brother is thinking this beer is not fresh :) Some astringency, pronounced sourness. Acidity is there but not too overwhelming, with enjoyable, slightly bitter aftertaste. Goes really well with heavy Christmas food, cutting through the richness and making it feel more light. Fruitily sour, some lemon seed bitterness at the finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
New Beer Distributors, NYC 375ml (too much): Pours red with a small head and a thin layer of lacing. Aroma is cherries, vinegar, some spice. Taste is rather on the sour side. A lot of earthiness and wood. I can taste something akin to cork in there as well. The sourness is sort of at the top of the beer. Nice finish. I would have liked a little more at the finish, but I shouldn’t complain.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle to glass. Pours a murky amber copper light brown color with a light tan head. Aroma is dry, oak, sour cherry, quite tart. Flavor is surprisingly mild, smooth, not very tart, light oak. Smooth and silky body with more lingering sweetness than tartness. Tasty, but I’m surprised at the lack of tartness in the flavor.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap, pours an auburn brown with little off white fizz. Earthy sweet sour aroma, very pleasant. The flavor follows with a nice dark amber Belgian lightly sweet very smooth and with a great addition of sour fruitiness and light tart and subtle oak. More oak and grain in the finish which is drying, very enjoyable and probably my favorite of the more regular find able holly pumpkin beers.

Refreshing spices, like most Unibroues strive to be, but without their negative yeast. Reminds of a saison.Rum whiff. Well carbonated. All taste. Lots of different malts. I must try all from this brewery. Licorice, corriander, rum, bourbon, fennel, fruit
