COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Quick and The Dead
Sour ale brewed with pumpkin and lime.
Brewed Exclusively for the Rare Beer Club
We bring delight to our dance of a decaying mortal tune. The beauty of contrasts, of oposites and the shores on which they clash is the inspiration behind Los Vivos y Los Muertos. When The Rare Beer Club asked us to brew up something form (sic) the fringe of our imagination, we thought what better and more appropirate for this autumnal season than this? Cheers and Mahalo Plenty!

Bottle split with Ray at Zorbas. Pours a hazy gold with bubbly, thick white head. Aroma of lime rind, brett, tropical fruit and pepper, spiceÖI donít pick up any pumpkin. Medium light body, very carbonated. Taste of lime, spice, honey, hay, light brett notes. Very dry and a bit astringent. The flavors seem to clash about. I donít care for this.

Sampled at Where the Wild Beers Are, 6/7/14 (Iím keeping this a little shorter than my normal rating style to help catch-up my backlog a little faster)
A hazy golden beer with a pretty interesting flavor. Thereís a good deal of stuff going on here.

Sampled at GTMW 2014. Pours a hazed dark golden with a thick white head. Aroma of brett, yeast notes, mild earth and lime. Flavor is earthy, yeast, with mild sweetness and slight tartness. Finishes crisp and dry. Medium bodied, zippy mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Overall, this is pretty nice.

Bottle cracked by Ryan, notes of wood and clubman talcum powder. Not much pumpkins but a good bit of lime and peppermint mineral. A decent brew from JP...glad to enjoy something they have put out in the last few years.

Bottle courtesy of Mad Mike, thank you sir! Cloudy pal yellow color, white head. Aroma of lightly spiced hay and straw. Taste is peppery, herbal straw. Tasty.

The faults are limited, but noticeable. Too carbonated and gassy, canít smell or taste the pumpkin. That said, itís a pretty nicre dry funky bretty saison with obvious lime in the nose and flavor. Good, but probably not worth the charge as an exclusive beer club beer (from a friend).

Draft. Damn this stuff is good. Light spice, big citrus lime, brett, pumkin in the background. Just a fuckin crusher.

Great Taste of the Midwest 2014 Offering (Madison, WI). Pours a nice hazy golden orange hue, big cakey whitish head atop stays large, sticks around well into it. Aromas are dry, a bit bretty with nice funk, telltale Jolly Pumpkin yeast profile. Some bready malt, straw and touches of earth, gentle fruit. Initial is a bit dry, some earthiness, faint watermelon. Gentle earth, funk and bready malts. A bit of grass, some cobwebs. Backend is dry, a bit cool with faint herbal feel. Touches of coolness, grass and florals. A bit dry and funky as we finish. Light, crisp with nice flavors. Simple and crisp.

Tap sample at MBGSF 2014. Poured clear orange color with an average frothy white head that was lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour, wood and earthy leaves aroma. Medium to full body with a dry texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour & more sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sour & more sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met with a solid change of pace brew.

Bottle thanks to my mom! Pours a hazy light gold with a slight orange hue and an off-white head that dissipates. Aroma has lots of sweet fruits with some veggie, light spice and a good amount of Belgian yeast. Flavor has sweet fruit, a bit of squash, Belgian yeast and a dry finish.
