another gusher, but not as aggressively as others i’ve had from jp. huge, dense, rocky off-white head that sticks around forever. seriously. it’s meringue instead of beer foam. it went down about an inch every five minutes. it took a while before i even noticed the deep and hazy honey-gold beer sitting beneath it. the smell is sort of classic jolly pumpkin: lots of funk stand out first, then it fades into an earthy, grassy note, with lemon zest in the background. some vanilla and spice mingle with the honey malt to form a decent malt note. taste is lighter on the funk, with a lot more spice, a lot more earthy and grassy hops, and a lot less citrus. pretty bitter on the finish, seemingly the combined result of the hops and the spicy astringency. quite dry, as expected, with a lot of carbonation for an incredibly creamy mouthfeel. not as slaking as i’d hoped. i’d drink it again, but the maracaibo especial still tops this, for my tastes.

Bottle shared with Zinister. Thanks!
Nice, deep cheddar orange brew with an aroma of spicy, sweet wood- mostly cedar, but perhaps a bit of pine as well. . Flavor is oak-tinged seltzer water in a mixture of zesty lemon lime. Mouthfeel reminds me of a Pilsner with an attitude. Refreshing brew. Wouldn’t mind more of this.

Bottle from John’s Market Place in Portland, OR--Poured a shiny yet hazy copper-amber body with a thick rough off-white head. Nose of rich caramel and funk. Spiciness coupled with fruit notes such as apples, pears, and flower peddles. Subtle booziness lingered. Carried on with a bright prickly carbonic tongue presence and finished sour, bitter, sweet, and dry.

Bomber at Jerry’s. Cloudy caramel-amber with big, foamy beige head / Big, aromatic nose of fruit and caramel / LIght bodied, tart and crisp, delicate carbonation, with silky, balanced body underneath, and long finish / Flavors of green apple, lemon, pear, caramel, chrysanthemum, oak, coriander, and a touch of earthy funk / Lacking a little of the complexity (maybe?) of other JP offerings, but still spectacular.

Pours a dark golden cloudy hue. Head is big and white, with lots of lacing. Nose of funk, tart fruit, oak. Taste is similar with apple, spice, hops, and plenty of sourness. Some mild yeast as well. Mouth is carbonated and relatively light. Finish is bitter, sour, and sweet.

750Ml Bottle-Cloudy golden color w/a huge foamy head. Strong alcohol aroma. Funky, woodsy flavor of spiced apples, lemon, colander, orange peel, & oak. Mouthfeel is very thin & reminds me of a cheap scotch. Thought this one was just to far out there & out of balance to enjoy. Long, burnt liquor finish.
