12 oz bottle, "21 month". Thanks moejuck! Very intriguing brew...a lot of interesting stuff goin on. Sweet, fruity aroma w/ a touch of hops & oak. Not overwhelming. Flavor is filled w/ tropical fruits, some oaky ’bourbon’ undertones, and a distinct funky tartness. Did i say interesting??? Pretty cool beer!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by alexsdad06, pour dark gold copper with minimal head. Nose interesting mix of tart, sweet fruit, some spice, wood, and tannin. Taste tart up front, some crisp fruit, then mid palate sour. Wood and sweet mix through the finish. The taste doesn’t quite live up to the nose. Thick mouth feel.

In short: A tart-citric amber ale with lots of wood and dirty barnyard funk. An acquired taste.
How: Bottle 12oz, age unknown, not fresh that’s for sure. An old treasure gave to me by my man sarro which I consumed a few days later. Thanks a lot Kyle. My bottle said aged 21 months in barrels (ratebeer description for the original batch states 14 months).
The look: Cloudy dark amber body topped by a beige ring of foam.
In long: Nose has lots of wood, a good amount of dirty funk (barnyard, horse blankey) and some tart ripe white grapes. Body is thick and juicy and not very lively with sparse carbonation of very hard bubbles. Taste is somewhat vinous, tart grapes, funk, light vinegary notes, a certain sourness. The funk lost its Jolly Pumpkin signature after so much time in the barrels, compare to a regular funky Jolly Pumpkin it was definitely more dirty horse blanket and maybe even leathery. Hard to say what this beer was supposed to taste when fresh or even if it was any different because after all we’re speaking about a beer that was aged 21 months in barrels, so even when it was bottled it was far from fresh. I still enjoyed this beer quite a bit but I can enjoy funky tart beers on the dirty side. A bottle given to me in person by sarro, meeting someone for an in person beer trade is a bit like a blind date except the other person is not totally disappointed when they see me.

Once upon a funk beer. All funk from smell to taste, still being a good drinker and under control. Much funkier than any JP I have ever tried. Great looks with a big fomay head and lots of lace, that also serve to cushion the tongue and make for a smooth drinkable beer. Thanks Dougsense.

Hazy amber/gold pour. Decent head. Funky aroma, tary pincherries, yeast, farmhouse, spicy. Dry and tart, leather, barnyard, wet hay, sour green apple, some spice, oak, funky. Easy drinking, alcohol very well hidden. Medium mouthfeel.
