A Belgian inspired stout that is as dark as a moonless midnight, brimming of roasted malts and bitter hops. It will keep you good company in all places, be thay light or dark.

Bottle. Dark brown with small tan head. Nose is tart fruit and oak. Not too many stout characteristics here...maybe a little chocolate. Taste is a lot of tart sourness that sticks. An interesting twist, but I wish it held some of the stoutness which is lost.

Split a 750ml bottle with badnloose. Poured a pitch black color with a pretty sizable tan head. Aroma was some Belgian spices, plums, some light spices - notes of sweet malts. Flavor was sweet malts, some roasted notes, and plenty of funky barrel type notes to it. Not overtly tart, but it sure made for an interesting brew.

Blend 2: Bottled 05JAN11 A: pours a black stout with a little over one finger of caramel head, this falls to a moderate sheet of the same. Some spotty lacing. Pretty good looker. S: Whew! Oak wins the nose here. Plenty of oak if I forgot to mention. Some chocolate notes, some licorice. Some woody alcohol. T: Some tartness up front. Some sweet cherry notes. Really not tasting like a stout at this point. Some toasted malts, and some roasty coffee. Pretty simple, and tart. Just a little more funky than I would like. M: A bit thin with moderate carb. Uber dry on the finish. O: the more I drink this, the more I wish I would have had this six months ago. This has too much tartness for my preferences in a stout. Reminds me of the early signs of Abyss í09. No thanks. Serving type: bottle 08-10-2011

Bottle, thanks SirLimpsalot. Black with a small head. This was an interesting beer. Quite sour with licorice, red berries, salt, dark chocolate and wood. The finish was long.

@basunen: Stout? Nä knappast. Svart färg men en tydlig syrlig nos. Smaken är tydlig syrlig med lite källarvarning. Den är god men en stout är det inte. Lite bäriga eftersmaker ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle pours dark brown with a couple fingers of rich tan head. Nose is tangy fruit, tart, roasty coffee. Taste is roasty coffee and cocoa up front with a finish of fruity sour grape, plum, funky lacto. One of the better sour stouts out there.

I had an almost 2 year old bottle so itís probably a lot more sour than a fresh one. It starts off almost like a gueuze, sour, grassy with only hints of stout and the taste slowly changes to the roasted malts and dark chocolate of a stout. Really nice but I think 2 years is past itís prime.

750 mL bottle. Blend 10. Bottled 02.13.2013. Part of a tasting 11/24/2013 at Fraserís Pub in Ann Arbor. The pour on this is beautiful. Itís a nice black, with a dark brown head that quickly fades to a film, leaving no lace. The aroma is a little bland for what Iíd like to see in a good stout with just the chocolate and a small roastyness coming through on the nose. The taste is immediately a bit sour. Chocolate moves in and then there are hints of coffee present. Surprisingly itís a lot of roasty sourness. The finish on this is a sour coffee. Very different, but pretty good.
