4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Appearance is completely black with a thin white head. Good lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, sour fruit, toast, coffee. Flavor is sour up front but balanced by roasted malt flavor, toast, and some hop bitterness. Medium to full body. Low carbonation. Very complex, interesting.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber bottle. Aroma is slightly sour, a little roasted. Appearance is really nice, dark black with light brown head that lasts pretty well with good lacing. Taste is too much sourness. Tastes to me like an infection from reading other comments. Sourness overwhelms. Medium body. Overall, I couldn’t get past the sourness. Would like to try it again sometime to see if it could be better.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught. Inky black with small foamy white head, fruity aroma, low carbonation, sour roasted malt taste, long finish, bitter burnt aftertaste. A marriage of sour and stout.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Old rating. Interesting beer. Mix of smoky stout, tart sour beer, with a hint of wood and funk. Pretty good balance within the different elements. Has that JP funky tart presence.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black body under a ginormous tan head. Laces really well in a foam coffee cup. Chocolate aroma with some fruity roast bitterness as well as some horsey brett. The flavor displays much more brett character. Grapefruit rind, strawberry, grapefruit acid and dry roasty chocolate. Dry, thin mouthfeel presumably from the secondary brett fermentation. A highly enjoyable twist on the style.

Bottled at Mikkeller, Stockholm. Black, small head. Lactic lingonberry aroma. Mid dry with medium body and well, rounded mouthfeel. Tart lingonberry, licorice, coffee and lemon. Laidback, subtle, rich. Excellent!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This one is odd but good. Roasted malt aroma with some lactic sourness and some funk and an oaky woody smell. Taste is the same. 75% funky sour. Not that sour, maybe 2 of 10. Barnyard funkyness is odd in the stout. Weird smoky woody "sour" bitter dry finish, but the sour is band aid funk in the finish. Aroma is better than the flavor. Flavor has some real weird qualities but it is complex and an interesting beer. But not pucker sour, nothing like The Bruery Tart of Darkness.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Murky black pour with a small orange/brown head. Aromas are roasted malts, fruity dark chocolate and must. Flavors are similar but with a base sweetness that detracts. The silky and frothy body is easy drinking. Complex and pretty tasty, but I think I like my funky beers a little lighter.

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Belgian inspired stout, oak aged, bottle conditioned, roasty malts and bitter hops. Funny how you get your expectations set and then... As I poured there was little head and the nose was like balsamic. Even after that I was shocked at the first sip--nothing on the bottle said sour--and didn’t like it immediately. Shifted gears and evaluated it as a sour and think it’s OK. I can’t call it a stout though.
