A Belgian inspired stout that is as dark as a moonless midnight, brimming of roasted malts and bitter hops. It will keep you good company in all places, be thay light or dark.

Served in a snifter Appearance- like the name says, dark dawn. This one is dark as night. Very little to none head or lacing. Aroma- at first you do pick up some stout characteristics, roasted malt, chocolate, and some of the oak from the barrel aging. Ounce you get your nose closer and smell you pick up the tart, dark fruit, sour notes. Taste - I picked up some semi sweet malt, dark fruits like raisins, plums, black berries, and raspberries, pretty much giving you that tartness. Almost like a Belgium Quad or double that got some bacteria in it making it sour. Mouthfeel- medium bodied with hardly any carbonation. Overall - i thought it was great. Reminded me of Monks Cafe Sour Red ale. I would definitly recommend as long as you know your not getting a stout.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks zvikar. Bottled 15/1/13. Black with big light brown head. Funky aroma with roast, oak, fruitiness and a bit of vinegar. Sourish flavor, roasty, funky, with some coffee, a light smoky hint and a dry finish. Lively carbonation.

Bottle from Willy thanks man! Dark black stout looking pour with lots of mocha coloured looking head. Aroma, hmmm, sour funk, roasted malts and some light sweetness. Taste, medium mouthfeel, sour black wine gums, a bit of roasted malts, with a souring coffee like finish. I must say this is a really interesting beer, Isome stout, more sour, but overall really well blended. Yum.

750 ml bottle at home. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small, fine beige head. The aroma and flavor have mild roast, dusty dark chocolate, tart oak, some yeast, tart black cherries, hints of coffee. This is an interesting brew for sure, definitely not something to grab if you want a traditional stout, but another solid beer from Jolly Pumpkin.

Some roast and lots of the house bretta strain. Pours black with ok head and lacing. Finishes bitter and sour. Roast tempers the yeast a little, but this is still an odd ball beer. Tap at Bru.

On tap. Comes almost black with a decent tan head. Aroma of chocolate, fruit, and malt. Taste is tart fruit, roasted malt, dark chocolate, and spice. Confusing, but good.

Appearance: Dark brown/black with finger thick beige head. Aroma: Acetic, vinous, sour cherry, woody. Taste: Medium/high sourness with low bitterness and sweetness. Palate: Thick rough grainy texture, light body, average carbonation, abrupt dry, sour, vinous finish. Comments: Very good. Reminds me a bit of a Flanders sour ale, not quite sure where the stout comes in. I may have drunk this one too young? Blend 1 Bottled 01-10-2013.

Had with Bruce at three philosophers. Pours black with a thin quickly dissipating tan head. Aroma is roast and metallic. Flavor is slightly sour roasty ad some chocolate. Eight oz of this would be nice. Half a bottle is too much. Overall good. But metallic and sourness was a bit too much.

Nose if sour. Thanks Dan. Infected. Tart in the nose. Tart in the taste. Ok. But the roast and sour clash. Lots of wine and vinegar.
