Black pour with a 1 finger, creamy tan head. Aroma of roast, roasted nuts, tart funkiness, chocolate, day old coffee, dark caramel, wet leather, green wood, tart, under ripe berries and earthy fallen leaves. Flavor is roast, nuts and chocolate up front, a hint of tartness comes in then along with earthy wood, light smoke, leather, then some dry earth, a little funk, burnt sugar, musty hay and light earthy pine. Medium body, off dry feel throughout with a slightly chalky feel, light, but sharp carbonation and slightly acidic feel. Good stuff, I would love to try more funky stouts, so far I think it is just this and New Glarus Old English Porter.

Dark red brown pour tan head. Aroma of cola, leather, acid, wood, dark caramel. Tastes apple cider vinegar, coco, lactic. Creamy in a way unlike the creaminess usually found in stouts.

Sour aroma. Dark with small light brown cap. Sour, lambic sourness, but with nice, balanced sourness with stouty notes. Good stout for hot weather.

Bottle from Willy thanks man! Dark black stout looking pour with lots of mocha coloured looking head. Aroma, hmmm, sour funk, roasted malts and some light sweetness. Taste, medium mouthfeel, sour black wine gums, a bit of roasted malts, with a souring coffee like finish. I must say this is a really interesting beer, Isome stout, more sour, but overall really well blended. Yum.

750 ml bottle at home. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small, fine beige head. The aroma and flavor have mild roast, dusty dark chocolate, tart oak, some yeast, tart black cherries, hints of coffee. This is an interesting brew for sure, definitely not something to grab if you want a traditional stout, but another solid beer from Jolly Pumpkin.

Some roast and lots of the house bretta strain. Pours black with ok head and lacing. Finishes bitter and sour. Roast tempers the yeast a little, but this is still an odd ball beer. Tap at Bru.
