Bomber. Pours pitch black. Foamy head fades quickly. Nose is yeasty and sour like grapefruit. Aromas are espresso, some yeast, some grapefruit, and the all is buried by a powerful sour sucker punch. Taste is light bitter and very pronounced sour. Lightish body with lively carbonation. Like a dry stout on steroids! An interesting take on the style. Maybe a little too interesting.

750ml bottle pours dark brown with a couple fingers of rich tan head. Nose is tangy fruit, tart, roasty coffee. Taste is roasty coffee and cocoa up front with a finish of fruity sour grape, plum, funky lacto. One of the better sour stouts out there.

75cl bottle into tulip. Traverse city.
Appearance: dark brown/amber with a very small head.
Aroma: sour, chocolate, brown sugar, lactic acid
Taste: sour/sweet with a small chocolate bitterness.
Palate: medium body, oily texture. Long finish.
Overall: a very interesting beer, Iíve never really had anything like it before. He sour is pleasant, the stout is pleasant. A good beer.

I had an almost 2 year old bottle so itís probably a lot more sour than a fresh one.
It starts off almost like a gueuze, sour, grassy with only hints of stout and the taste slowly changes to the roasted malts and dark chocolate of a stout. Really nice but I think 2 years is past itís prime.

750 mL bottle. Blend 10. Bottled 02.13.2013. Part of a tasting 11/24/2013 at Fraserís Pub in Ann Arbor. The pour on this is beautiful. Itís a nice black, with a dark brown head that quickly fades to a film, leaving no lace. The aroma is a little bland for what Iíd like to see in a good stout with just the chocolate and a small roastyness coming through on the nose. The taste is immediately a bit sour. Chocolate moves in and then there are hints of coffee present. Surprisingly itís a lot of roasty sourness. The finish on this is a sour coffee. Very different, but pretty good.

On tap at Burnhearts. Dark brown with a medium brown crown. Aroma of dark roasted malts, coffee, light oak and yeast. Slightly tart and sour with roasted malt, chocolate, light cherry and light funk. Okay but doesnít quite get there.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, dark black pour with thin off white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, some dark fruits, lots of spice, hints of oak, vanilla, slight vinegary note in there as well. Taste is a mix of caramel, toffee, slight toast into roast, slight dark fruits, vinegar and oak, finishing fairly spicy, slightly tart.

Mid black with a good sized tan covering that retains well.
Nose is tangy fruit, soured berries, lactic tang, earthy, light roast, dark toffee.
Taste comprises dark fruit, lactic tangyness, light milk chocolate notes, woody, soured berry fruit.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, tangy dark fruit curtain call with a pinch of cocoa powder.
Decent complex stout with a tangy lactose vein pumping through it.

Deep black pour with khaki head. Aroma of rich chocolate, roasted malts, dark fruit, and light lactic funk. Flavor is chocolate pudding and roasted malt mixed with sour yogurt. Notes of dark fruit, black olive, and finishing with lactic lemon. Residual chocolate roast. Base seems like it would be a great stout. Dont really get the sour stout appeal.

This one I found very good. My first sour type stout Iíve had. And Jolly Pumpkin would be a good place to start for anything. A big puckering upfront followed by the dark fruit and roasty flavors. Similar to Tart of Darkness. Maybe a couple notches lower.
