COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rich brown ale inspired by the enigmatic monastic brews of Belgium, and the mysterious mist shrouded jungles of the tropics. Brewed with real cacao, and spiced with cinnamon and sweet orange peel for a sensual delight. A brew to be sipped, savored, and enjoyed!

Bomber. Pours deep amber with a huge fluffy yet persistent head that leaves a lot of scuzzy lacing. Aroma is dominated by sour fruit and vinegar, but also hints of citrus and a touch of chocolate. Flavor is all of that, but in greater balance. Hint of spice. Long tart, slightly bitter finish. Medium mouthfeel. Delicious!

750 generously sent by Jstax. Cheers, Jeremy! Pours a hazy orange-brown with an off-white head. Nose is cocoa, caramel, mild spices, and brett- barnyard with hints of dusty citrus. Flavor is similar with cocoa and malt up front with blood orange, sour orange, some spices, and dusty barnyard brett. Medium in body and increasingly complex as it warms. Very nice beer!

A - pours hazy orange tinted brown with 2 finger tan head. Strong lacing. S - strong aromas of Belgian yeasts, sour acids, honey, cinnamon. M - lighter bodied, full palate. Simple lightly sour. Lingering bitter vegetal metallic ending. T - sour notes up front, melt quickly to lightly bitter vegetal end. Hints of orange, orange peel, cinnamon. O - interesting lightly sour bitter vegetal malty brown. 6+

Pours light brown with a tan head that lasts with some lacing. Nose is a bit leathery and some yeast. Aromas are sour, some roasted malt and yeast. Medium to light body with lively carbonation. Really nice effort, sweet and sour tastes are really well balanced. Pretty accessible for a JP beer.

Bottle with dinner at home. Sour aroma with hints of toffee. Pours light brown with heavy carbonation. Light in the mouth and a great roasty sourness. Went AMAZING with saurkraut and roasted pork. One of my favorite JP brews. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Blend 5, bottled 11/23/10. Poured from 750ml into Founders snifter. A: Pours a dark brown with a 2 finger cream colored head. Head retention is crazy with great bubble lace. S: Jints of cocoa with several unidentifiable spices with some citrus present. Strawberries come to mind with other berries. T: Very spicy, almost a sudo-burn even though the alcohol isn’t present. Orange with a slight cinnamon. Sweetness of a little chocolate fills the backend. M: Tingly mouthfeel. Medium bodied with light spice left on the tongue. O: Boy was this interesting. The spices are incredible and dominate the overall flavors, but it’s a nice drink. And it’s pretty smooth if you let it sit. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 05-19-2011

This is one of my favorite Jolly Pumpkin brews. The "brown" and "rich" in the description scared me, but it didn’t drink especially malty, and the slight boost in body and smoothness balanced out the JP sour to make this a wonderfully satisfying beer. The cacao and spices were subtle, but blended in nicely.

Pours brown with a light tan head. Aroma is spicy. Taste is a bit sour, and has notes of a Belgian, with orange, spices, and is slightly sweet. I’m not a big fan of this style, so take my rating with a grain of salt. I will say the mixture here is fairly unusual. Likely won’t get this one again.

Bottle, 75cl. It pours an unclear, amber body, topped by a dense, beige, finger-thick head. The aroma has the typical funky, light citrusy Jolly Pumpkin signature. There’s some maltyness present, both in the aroma and in the flavor, a light spiced touch as well, and as the aroma, also the flavor is citric and funky. Medium body and pleasant carbonation, finishing funky and lightly spiced. A pleasant and easy drinkable beer. 111229

Poursa brown murky color with a nice off white color head. Aroma is sour funky with some fruity and cocoa notes. Taste is interesting, a sour brown ale, cinnamon and orange are very out in the open, sour notes, belgian yeast, a faint cocoa hint in the finish. Another great jolly pumpkin brew.
