A rich brown ale inspired by the enigmatic monastic brews of Belgium, and the mysterious mist shrouded jungles of the tropics. Brewed with real cacao, and spiced with cinnamon and sweet orange peel for a sensual delight. A brew to be sipped, savored, and enjoyed!

Pours a nice dark orangish amber color. Aromas of fruit, and some other hints, maybe some spices, maybe caramel. Flavor is a bittersweet, malty, and a hint of hops with a nice bittersweet finish.

Tap@Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen - dark sienna red to brown pour with off white head. Expecting a sweet rather than the sour malty backing (being a Belgian ale) but works for me, some dried fruit, caramel, some spices going, cinnamon prominently, quite tart in the finish, interesting brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap @ Mikkeller and Friends, Copenhagen. Pours dark brown with a big slightly offwhite head. Aromas of yeasty, malty, dark fruits, light acidic, spicy, chocolate, citrussy. Taste is tart, vinegary (what?), funky, red berries, malty, dark fruits, spicy, chocolate. Not sure what’s going on here. Not bad though.

Shared 25.4 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy amber/brown with an off-white head. Aroma is fruit, earth, spice, and yeast. Taste is sour fruits, orange, spice, funk, earth, and yeast. It’s not really a brown ale, nor is it a Belgian strong ale. I’d say it’s almost more like a watered-down sour red/brown, but with some citrus, and not nearly as tart - though it does indeed have some tartness. Interesting - not one of my favorites - but decent.

Aroma: Yeasty and dry with some fruit; Appearance: light amber with off white head that dissipates slowly; Taste: definitely a saison, not a brown ale or Belgian Strong Ale; bitter/sour and funky; Palate: medium body with long, dry, funky finish; Overall: Decent, although not what we were expecting. Would probably not buy again.
