COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rich brown ale inspired by the enigmatic monastic brews of Belgium, and the mysterious mist shrouded jungles of the tropics. Brewed with real cacao, and spiced with cinnamon and sweet orange peel for a sensual delight. A brew to be sipped, savored, and enjoyed!

Pours cloudy dark amber with fluffy off white head. Smells spicy. Taste dense spices with fruit-like tartness, and some roasted malts in the distance. Good stuff.

Bottle. Slight tart / sour yeast aroma with subtle dark fruits and spice notes. Slight bready, cherry pie, and maybe sour apple kinda come out on a third or fourth inhale. Complex aroma. Lighter body than expected. Very solid beer. Superspak has this to say about his 4.1 rating: "750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/30/2010. Pours lightly hazy reddish copper color with a nice 2-3 finger in my butt dense and fluffy light khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of pee on me streaming carbonation. Aromas of tart apple, cherry, lemon, orange peel, pepper, clove, cinnamon, toast, cocoa, hay, grass, leather, funk, light vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt, spice, and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of tart apple, cherry, lemon, orange peel, cocoa, toast, pepper, clove, hay, grass, cinnamon, leather, funk, light vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy/spicy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of green apple, cherry, lemon, orange peel, cocoa, toast, pepper, clove, cinnamon, hay, funk, light vinegar, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of malt, spice, and yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/spice/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a fairly creamy like my grandfather’s giz, crisp, and slightly acidic mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent wild brown ale! All around great balance and complexity of malt, spice, and yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering." On a side note, I have no idea what funk is as far a flavor/aroma. Is it like the smell/taste of George Clinton’s armpit or his Fromunda cheese? Maybe Bootsey Collins’ banana hammock after a gig? Superspak must have done some "funky" research is all I am saying.

Bomber thanks to one of the cousins from the barrio - sour. Quaffable. Fruity finish. Not what I expected.

Brown pour, redish highlights, finger of tan head. Nose is funky yeast & hint of coco. Sour/sweet. Middle is sour up front, followed by coco and cinnamon with a taste of earth. Finish is coco and spice on the tongue (taste a little like chilies). Great with a turkey burger with smoked goat cheese and fresh Hatch salsa from Whole Foods. Good Friday.

Opaque dark brown, medium white head. Funky sour notes with some cocoa on the nose. Sour, fruity notes and some spices. Finishes sour and a bit dry. Nice.

750ml bottle into tulip. Traverse city. Pours opaque amber brown in color. Nice white head with lacing. Aroma is lactic, earthy cellar notes, oaky, and grains. Taste is sour, but not too strong. Maybe a little under done if anything. Some underlying sweetness as well. Body is light-medium. Smooth texture. Shorter finish. Nice beer but not super complex.

Mix of burnt caramel and sour fruit. Hints of cinnamon underneath, finishing with a funky barnyard note from the brett. Nicely done.
