Bottle @ Three Notch’d Tasting. Chestnut brown pour with a small head. Pennies and cherry. Light tartness. Mineral, some acid. Taste of cherry fruit leather. Sea salt and driftwood. Light drinking fruit that’s beer kept in a sea captain’s chest. Earthy, sort of dry on the finish. Medium body, soft carbonation.

on tap at Eulogy in Philadelphia; hazy reddish color; sour apple and cherry aroma; great sour apple and cherry flavor; the tap unfortunately ran out after I ordered this one and they brought me just about one sip; it tasted great and I really wish I could have had more than one sip

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Dark hazy brownish ruby with a lovely sour tone of cranberry and sour oak with a dark earthy sweetness. Nice flavor that begins earthy sour but then gets dry and nearly flavorless save for a wee metallic twang. Eh. There’s a little dark maltiness through it but it’s no great sour.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - Sour black current and some funk. Cloudy Amber with a decent rich beige head. Soured cherry, soured malts, oak notes and some balsamic in the finish. Not sure about Christmas ale, but very much like Flemish red.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
75cl bottle shared in a Delirium Noel glass. Pours a dark brown/red colour with a slightly off white head which barely lasts the pour. Aroma is vinous notes with a clear acidity present. Taste is tart cherries, sweet maltiness and a rather thin mouthfeel. All in all quite disappointing and not at all Christamassy despite the promising write up from the brewery. This is similar to an oud brown which in itself is very promising but when it is masquerading as a Christmas Belgian Ale my expectations were somewhat different.
