3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Green capped 750 ml bottle from Gator Beverage, Batch 165, 167, 172, 174, dated 10/23/13 poured into Unibroue tulip on 5/12/14. Pours opaque brown that turns a bright ruby color when held up in the light. Big fluffy off white head that lingers for a good while. Aroma is sour cherries, some dark fruit, light spice, oak. I was expecting something different but this smells excellent. The flavor is chocolate covered cherries, light spices, a hint of balsamic vinegar, dry oaky finish. Sweet around the edges of the tongue. Medium bodied with effervescent carbonation. Goes down pretty easy. I really didnít know what to expect from this brew, but it is really nice and seems pretty unique. I would have this again.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 2012. Nose is wet wheat, lemon and horse blanket, slight sherry. The nose is nice without being outstanding, little of the xmas tones expected.
Taste is good sour, wheat, a little nutmeg leading to cloves. As the taste develops through the bottle there are slight salt tones and white chocolate in the finish.
Itís decent, but seemed very lightly spiced for a Christmas beer and lacked the very high standards of usual JP.

750ml bottle at Little Miss Whiskeyís in DC. Pours a murky brown with some creamy, white head. Nose has a mix of things, some cooked greens, some dried citrus pith, a little bit of spice, some mild malt, almost like stale bread, a little fruit cake, some raisin. Flavor has that typical JP tartness, a little lemony, light vinegar, pithy, mild malt, raisin, some cracker. Tart finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours brown with off white, fluffy head. Good lacing. Aroma is like a funky, woody Belgian ale. Flavor is malty, slightly roasted and/or smoky flavor. Itís tart, and combined with the roasted flavor makes it a bit different than other Jolly Pumpkin ales. But not too different. Itís very drinkable for 9% abv, as well. Excellent and I would buy again.
