750 ml bottle bought @ Bierkompass.de. Pours hazy brown with a huge frothy nougat head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of sticky lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is fruity, malty and funky with toasted malts, dark and white grapes, dry wood, hay, barnyard, dry soil, lemon juice, lemon zest, cereal, Chardonnay wine, cloves, sourdough bread and tamarind. Taste is dry, sour, fruity and funky witch crackers, toasted malts, dark grapes, unripe plums, dry wood, hay, barnyard, lemon juice, lemon zest, dried apricots, tamarind, unripe pineapple, cloves and Chardonnay wine. Mouthfeel is dry, fruity tart, smooth and medium bodied. Finish is sour and tart with grapes, dry wood, toasted malts, barnyard, lemon juice, white wine, cloves, plums and tamarind. Great stuff embracing you into a tart funky jolly Christmas spirit.

"this one was nice. had the trademark jolly pumpkin funky sour thing going on, but more complexity than their other beers save for the la roja. fruity yeast, sweet malt, a touch of hop bitterness, and lots of barrel funk. dark and cloudy...a very nice winter brew."

Pours a rich dark brown, some translucence. Little bit of tan head. Aroma fruity, some spice and lacto character, burnished and coppery. Body arch and spicy, with a fruity, barky bite, with a punch of cherry juice at the end. Nice but not JP’s finest effort.

UPDATED: SEP 13, 2014 Firs of all: thank you very much for the generosity of the bartender of Sörmanufaktúra/Sörspecialista! His gesture is very much appreciated :-) Regarding the ’beer’: dark mahogany colour, huge, stable beige head; aroma of sour fruits, earthy/woody notes and some minimal alcoholic spiciness...maybe some vinegar; taste of sourness, woody notes again, some yeast and alcohol - really good beer, which reminds me much more to a sour brown ale than a Belgian strong ale

On draft. Dark brown color with one finger white head. Cherry and Bourbon aroma. Taste is sour. Smells like a Belgian, but tastes like a sour. Very different.

Old rating. Nice spiced Belgian. Light brown/dark orange colored. Big funk, fruit, spice in the nose. The yeast and brett show up in the taste, but still lots of fruit, raisins, cherry, and oak. Medium bodied.

Cloudy brown tinged with orange gold. Slight tan head. Funky, deep fruit notes. Some molasses sweetness, quite sour, touch of spiciness. Pretty strongly acidic. Fair amount of alcohol. Medium body. Slightly oily. Quite good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 ml bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy dark orange/brown with off-white edge head. Aroma is lactic and hoppy, with notes of oak. Flavor is sour, with citrus notes and mild malt. Dry citrusy finish with slight lactic tang. From notes 1/23/10 (Geist Dark Lord tasting).

Color a medium brown with a bit of red. A pretty good head when poured though it settles out fairly quickly. The aroma has an intriguing fruitiness to it, along with some oaky spiciness. The fruit and oak spice are apparent in the taste as well, though the fruit has a fairly distinct sour aspect to it. Some sweetness as well, due at least in part to the 9% alcohol. Medium body (that is for a stout lover like me). Fairly long finish. Overall a very good beer. It has an intriguing set of flavors that hold your interest for a good while.
