3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Batch 627/628, Bottled September 30, 2010 (almost 3 years).
Appearance: The body is a bit murky, but itís a beautiful chestnut with a stocky and dense tan head that persists for a long time. Even when itís settled, itís still a dense coating with a creamy ring.
Aroma: Tart cherries with red wine vinegar, hints of oak with sweet vanilla and a dash of cocoa. Very enticing aroma!
Taste: This is pretty excellent. Moderately strong vinegar makes for the entirety of the first sip. From there there are huge oak tannins that make this a big astringent and wine reminiscent, sort of like a Cab Sauv in ways. The finish is a bit abrupt, but lingering for a moment is a slightly tart and syrupy cherry. This drinks nice after three years.
Palate: Medium bodied, a bit thin, with high carbonation.
Overall: This drinks very nicely after three years. I wish I could get this fresh to see how itís fared, but the distributor has pulled out of NJ. Shame! I would liken this to a Flanders brown, but Iím new to the sours so itís not very easy for me to discern.

Blend 1, 2007
Tasted on 12/8/13 from a crown-capped 750mL bottle purchased at Sun Devil a long time ago, very excited to taste the first batch of this beer. Pours dark mahogany with a thick beige head that slowly recedes to a thick, even layer of lace. The nose is signature Jolly Pumpkin funk with some red wine vinegar, a faint hint of honey, and some traditional baking spices and just a bit of dark bread. The flavor is more funky than sour, with some dark bread nuttiness, faint baking spices, honey coming through, with a lightly vinous note. The body is medium with average carbonation, nice tannic structure, and a long complex finish. Some vanilla oak begins to come through as the beer warms.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Interesting Belgian. Aroma was mainly sweet and yeasty. Cool dark brown color with a nice fizzy head. Average palate with higher carbonation, almost like a tripel. Flavors were malty and bready with burnt sugar sweetness. Oak seemed to add a charring character on the finish. Good first impression of this brewery.

Blend 8. 10-32-2012 vintage. Rated 11-27-13. Pours a murky rubyish brown. Medium to large frothy tan head, mostly lasting with drapes of lace. Aroma as most Jolly P beers; lots of Brett, moderate tart/sour basement, woody, dusty, light citrus, light fruity, floral, yeast, light spices, some alcohol. Medium body, soft. Really interesting and complex development on the palate. Some tart/sour, light sweet/fruity, light malty, some spices. Finish is moderate dry with some alcohol, yeast, fruit, spices, Brett. An intricate, delicate beer.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Beautiful aroma, a little bit of everything. A little floral, woody, citrus, yeast, maybe a little vanilla, possibly from oak barrels. Taste is a little surprising, a lot sweeter than I expected. Rich. Dark fruit, sweet oak, some malt, a little drying at the end
