theisti (1014), Leawood, Kansas, USA Apr 24, 2008 750 ml bottle purchased at the incomparable Argonaut in Denver, Colorado. 2007 Vintage Blend 1. Pour is orange brown with an out of control thick tan head made up of very fine carbonation bubbles. Settles eventually into a rocky two inch affair. Aroma of metallic woodiness. Dirt and vegetable spiciness are also on offer. The JP yeast is there too, but very much in the backseat. Interesting nose, quite a bit going on. Taste is a nice sour sharpness initially then transfers to something resembling peanut butter. Peanut butter? Yes, peanut butter. This fades some as it warms. The finish re-introduces the dirt. Not real sure where they were going with this one, hope other blends were better.
BOLTZ7555 (435), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Aug 14, 2008 Much darker than expected with bright aromas of citrus and Granny Smith apple. Minimal oak influence...with the majority of flavors reminiscent of the typical sour (lemon rind, barnyard funk, and a huge Brett focus). A bit thin compared to others in the style. Tasty but not exceptional. sk8viking (6078), Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 Bottle. A dark amber beer with a big tan head. The aroma and taste is sour and acid and of wood and dark fruits. Medium body with a mellow soft raisin and wood finish. TURDFERGUSON (1116), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Jul 15, 2008 Bottle. Blend 3, I believe. Sent to me in a trade by iowaherkeye. Thanks Joey! Last beer of the night friday night at shenandoah. Pour was dark brown with a thick tan lace. Nose had some typical JP funk amidst spices, oak, some dark fruits. ucusty (914), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jul 9, 2008 Blend 3 from southbay. Dark brown pour with thick tan head and thick lace. Tart fruit with a touch of spice. It is the perfect amount of spice blended well with the oak Hairofthedog (416), San Diego, California, USA Jul 5, 2008 The aroma was full of dark fruit, allspice, a little nutmeg and light roast. The beer poured a thick cloudy brown color with very thick lasting head and light lace. The flavor was fruity, allspice, light clove, nutmeg, and plums. The mouthfeel was medium to full bodied with a lot of carbonation.
