Artisan Golden Ale. Ale aged in oak barrels. Barrel aged & bottle conditioned. Aged in large oak casks and refermented in the bottle. Oro de Calabaza is brewed in the Franco-Belgian tradition of special golden ales. Spicy and peppery with a gentle hop bouquet and the beguiling influence of wild yeast. Please enjoy our beers in good health, Cheers and Mahalo plenty!

Faint aroma of light fruits and hay. Hazy golden color with a dense white head. Nice flavor, pale malt, light fruiitiness, a little clove and pepper, and just a bit of hops. All of these flavors are nicely balanced. Medium body with moderate carbonation. One of the better beers I’ve tried from JP. As usual, I’d like a little more malt sweetness and body, but with this style high degree of attenuation works well.

750ml bottle: poured orange with a thick off white head. Light hairspray in the aroma with fruits and light hops. Flavor is lightly sweet with fruit: mild banana and citrus. Semi-full body, nice finish. Good beer.

UPDATED: JUN 24, 2007 Golden with a small head. Very smooth. Some hints of fruit give it almost a wine feel. The alchol is hidden well.

The aroma is spicey and fruity. The color is a cloudy golden and the head is white and very short lasting. There is a fruitiness to the flavor and the finish is astringent.

Smells like a Belgian, spicy and some citrus notes. Big bubbles in a white head that fades away with a touch of lacing. Citrus notes in the flavor with a acidic aftertaste. Astringent quality that is not unpleasant. Gotta love the huge bottle, though!

Bottle. Quite yeasty it has to be said, citrus detergent nose. Carbonated yeasty, lemony, fizzy palate, alcohol shows in the finish, finish is also a touch spicy/peppery, a bit raw.

A hazy orange beer with a disappearing off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of oranges, caramel, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of oranges and alcohol, while the mouthfeel is carbonated and sticky.

not bad, not bad. cremey yet lively mouthfeel; a bit buttery, cheesy, honey or caramel noted, more emphasis on spice than fruitiness, which for me is a plus; a semi-thick, sweet and refreshing ale, but perhaps too lively. i need to dig deeper!

UPDATED: SEP 24, 2005 Bottled at RBESG. Cloudy golden. Grassy aroma. Yeasty and buttery with lively mouthfeel. Dryish with excellent soft malt character. Funky, yet fresh. Really complex, yet drinkable. Very French. I am most impressed!

(Bottle 75 cl) Hazy golden with a fine head. Spicy with lots of malt and some notes of citrus and honey. Way too carbonated. This reminds me more of a bland, standard Belgian Blond. I loved the Roja - this is disappointing. 120805
