Bottle from Whole Foods Market in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is sour cherries, lemon peel, dried apricots, mild funk, some wood. Taste is tart, earthy, peppery, spicy yeasts. Has characteristics of a crisp, dry white wine mixed with a mild vinegar and a belgian farmhouse. Extremely enjoyable.

Bottle to glass. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color with a fizzy off white head. Aroma is oak, mildly tart, belgian spice. Flavor is much of the same with a mild tart oak character. Lighter in body and very drinkable. Overall pretty solid.

"this one is cool. it’s a little tater than the wit or the bam, and has more of a unique spiced golden ale flavor going on. Funky as all get out but still would be a cool summer beer or meal beer."

I waited years to try this brew and I was not disappointed. Golden hue. Lacy head. The aroma is breezy, the hops leap from the bottle. Malts, barley and citrusy. It is an ale but it has the sensibility of a Belgian ale. Smooth wash down. Extremely drinkable and refreshing. A very noble beer.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 7/31/2013. Pours lightly hazy deep golden color with a 3 finger dense and rocky white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tart lemon peel, orange zest, apricot, pear, green apple, white pepper, clove, wheat, cracker, bread, hay, straw, grass, wet wood, musty funk, light leather, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, pale malt, and oak barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of tart lemon peel, orange zest, apricot, pear, green apple, white pepper, clove, wheat, cracker, bread, hay, straw grass, wet wood, musty funk, light leather, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy spiciness and light tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon peel, orange zest, apricot, pear, green apple, white pepper, clove, wheat, cracker, bread, hay, straw, grass, wet wood, musty funk, light leather, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity and robustness of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, pale malt, and oak barrel flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly prickly mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding Biere de Garde style. All around awesome complexity and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, pale malt, and oak barrel flavors; and extremely smooth and crisp to drink for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

huge creamy white head. excellent lacing. mostly diminishing. sparkling flat thick dark yellow body. aroma: citrus lime, pineapple, white wine. if: moderate sweet. ff: moderate sweet light acidic bitter; long duration. palate: light medium body, oily texture, medium carbonation, light astringent alcoholic finish. Aroma levemente azedo.

Sampled at Great Canadian Beer Festival. Bright, sour and fruity with floral/grassy notes and some sharp, pepper spiciness. Great, earthy yeast funk. Dry and decently bitter.
