Tap at Max’s Sour Fest. Pours clear light gold with creamy white head. Aroma is cereal and biscuit malts, light citrus, light spice, light herbs, and some grassiness. Flavor is dry malt base with light fruit esters forward before completely drying out with notes of oak, faint herbs, and faint spice; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

2007 bottle, 750 ml. And I should have planned for an old bottle of Belgian wild-fermented beer mught be a gusher, but still I don’t plan. So, lots of foam, and when I stuck the bottle into my mouth to keep the beer off the carpet, I got a few bits of grain, too. Zesty smell of a beer with a nice dose of brett, or sour mash. Hazy gold color; after the big chunky gushing foam settles, it almost disappears into a slight ring. Taste is indeed spicy, and more than a bit of it still seems to come from muddled hops. Warming alcohol on a night when it’s just 4° above. Just a bit grainy, with sharp effervescence. Green apples in the foreground, lemon in the back, and just a touch of grass from either wild yeast or hops.

On tap at Barcade philly. Aroma of blush wine, nectarines, and oak. Pours peach colored with a small head but lots of fizz. Taste is light and sour with white wine vinegar, oak, plenty of juicy citrus and a funky barnyard. Light in the mouth and crisp and refreshing. Could drink this all night.

On tap at the GCB for 4$ (thanks!). Not sure how I haven’t rated this one yet; its probably my third or fourth time having it. Pours golden in a tulip glass with slight haze. 5mm of moderately-coarse white head that fades. Aroma/flavor are grass, grain, bit of Parmesan cheese, some herb, dust. Body is medium light, a tad bit syrupy for the style. Delicious.

Yeasty, funky smell, beautiful blonde color, the taste of citrus, lemon, orange, a little tang, but not enough. Some have said this is a Wild Ale, some said it was a sour, it’s more of a Belgian Ale to me. Good but could use more sour in my opinion.

Bottle bought @ bierkompass.de. Gusher! Pours hazy pale golden with a frothy white head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sour, fruity and funky with crackers, white grapes, hay, dry soil, white Chardonnay wine, lemon zest, plums, white pepper corns, pineapple, passionfruit, tropical fruit hard candy and dry wood. Taste is sour and fruity with crackers, Chardonnay wine, dry soil, plums, grape skins, French oak, leather, lemon zest, star fruit, passionfruit, mango, hay, alcohol and hints of peppercorns and allspice. Mouthfeel is soft, sparkling, dry, tart, tiny dusty, tiny boozy and medium bodied. Finish is sour and fruity with crackers, white wine, dry soil, hay, French oak, passionfruit and lemongrass. Very white wine like and very tasty... Alcohol drags it down slightly though...
