Draft @ ABC: Poured a yellow with a white color head. Aroma is tart sour fruit, spice, and hops. Taste is very sour fruit, spicy, oak character and peppery finish.

Very sour, acidic lemon aroma. Taste is also fairly sour, with some taste of pepper and a lingering but subtle bitter bite.

Getting pear and a sour/tart smell. Pour is a very light golden/straw color with no real head, and a very thin lacing. Tasting pear, tartness, sourness. A bit of spiciness at the end (like a pepper spice....slight tingle, not overpowering). Not getting any oak taste, but the mouthfeel at the end is the only indication that this could be oak-aged.
I did not enjoy this for the first 1/4 of the bottle. After I thought of it more as a cider/pear riesling, I upped the taste ranking a bit. I don’t think I will try this again.
This is not what I expected as a Belgium Strong Ale, and overall not too keen on it.

Aroma is smooooth. Yeasty. Orange. Pear. papaya. Subtle oak
Pours a light golden. Little head.
Taste does not come across as fruity as aroma. Earthy. Hay. Grape. White wine like. Dry. Oh wait that’s pallet.
Pallet is dry but oaky. Super oaky. Too oaky.
Overall this beer brings me back. It was the first craft beer that I went out and got specifically looking for craft beer. I was in Ann Arbor at the time and suffering through Chemical Engineering at University Of Michigan. I had walked to Jolly Pumpkin on Main Street and was like, WTF? $16 for a bottle of beer? But I thought what the hell. Brought it back and had no idea what the hell I was drinking. Sour like white wine. Shared it with my roommates and they had the same sentiment. As a result... overall 20/20. #dealwithit

Tap at Bierkeller. Can’t believe I’ve never rated this. Cloudy amber pour with a small head that fades to a very thin ring. Aromas are lemon peel, flowers, black pepper, and very light cotton candy. Tastes herbal and floral with strong peppery yeast. Light citrus peel. Dry with just a hint of tartness. Solid but this has always been a little boring to me.

Draught @ Albion. Cloudy dark amber with beige creamy head, acidic aroma, sour caramel / roasted malt taste, medium carbonation, balanced longish finish. Very good brew.

Tap @ Bridge Tap House & Wine Bar - St. Louis: Tangy, citrusy, Belgian yeast. Great flavors abound that match aroma. It’s quite thin for how high the alcohol is. Not bad.

25 oz bottle, poured into a tulip glass at ~40 degrees F.
Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy burnished straw golden color, and forms a thick white head with good retention. Plenty of carbonation is visible, streaming through the beer. Lacing is off the chain, so to speak.
Smell: Musty wheat, old books, melon (cantaloupe and honeydew), and pear leap out of the glass, bringing along faint hints of white pepper.
Taste: Fascinating. The taste profile opens with funky white pepper, as if the peppercorns had been dampened and encouraged to grow some tiny spots of mold ere being ground. The fruits from the aroma come through as the beer moves along the palate, always overlaid with that musty pepper, and supported by an undertone of old, old wood and paper. As it finishes, the fruit essence shifts to tones of tart white grape and very faint citrus, with a vaguely bitter, dry aftertaste not unlike a dry white wine.
Mouthfeel: Lively and nigh medium in body, with a somewhat watery finish.
Overall: Thus far, the only thing I’ve had with the Jolly Pumpkin name on it that I have not liked was a collaboration beer with Anchorage. They do bieres de garde well. This one isn’t quite their Fuego del Otono to me, but it’s also a repeater.

Old rating. Great beers cloudy gold. Light biscuit body but plenty of citrus, melon, tart, and funk, finishes slightly dry, but still has a pleasant sour taste, low carbonation but still light bodied.

Draft at 30 hop. Pours cloudy golden white nice white head and lacing. Nose is lemon funk. Taste adds some sweetness. Good.
