Artisan Golden Ale. Ale aged in oak barrels. Barrel aged & bottle conditioned. Aged in large oak casks and refermented in the bottle. Oro de Calabaza is brewed in the Franco-Belgian tradition of special golden ales. Spicy and peppery with a gentle hop bouquet and the beguiling influence of wild yeast. Please enjoy our beers in good health, Cheers and Mahalo plenty!

Lightly clouded pale yellow, no head. Dry, tart berry, light floral nose. Some spice. Dry bitterness initially, sour. Finishes long and extremely dry. Lighter body, fairly effervescent. Alcohol is present but far from overbearing. Very well balanced, quite interesting. Good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle batch 1119/1146 date 01-08-2013. Haven’t had a Jolly Pumpkin for a while, so I forgot about the gushing. Pours hazy yellow, medium/high effervescence with a medium sized white head. Barnyard, leather, yellow apples and pear, melon, white pepper, light toasted wood, a bit of candy sugar. Medium body, oily/soft texture, medium carbonation, medium sweet with light bitterness and acidity. Long light sweet spicy finish. Tasty.

(bottle - 750 ml - batch 297) Cloudy gold pour with a ton of white foam. A Jolly Pumpkin beer that’s way too carbonated? Who knew? Sweet yeast and vanilla wood notes in the aroma. Some light hops. Lots of yeast and dry malts in the flavor with a definite hint of the barrel aging. Spicy and clean finish. Just too much carbonation.

Bottle. Yellow to gold appearance with an airy head. Buttery, with notes of apple, guava, and papaya. Finishes with lemon, pepper, and a distinct tartness.

Golden with a firm head. Huge bouquet of spices, lemons, hops, grass and orange peel grate you in your nose. Just enough acidity, beautifully balanced. Finish is funk, slight hops, peppers. Wow

This is a wonderful, mild belgian ale. Lovely aroma, not too sweet, nice and mild, as I said. pours frothy, with a bright wide head and cloudy orange body. Taste is a little weak, likely on the aforementioned mild side. Nice beer.

Awesome funky dry crisp and chewy beverage. Hazy straw color and slick mouthfeel. Nice.

From bottle to tulip. Spice. lemon, and sweet grain bread. Slight tart funk is very nice. Hazy dusted gold with a full white head that leaves moderate lacing down the side. Flavor is moderate low spice with candi sugar and cracker malt. Slightly bacterial with solid yeast accents. All-around goodness.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden color with fizzy white head. Oak, cereal grain, and spice on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes dry, tart and some pepper which is weird. Not my favorite offering from JP.

One of the new 375 bottles. Pours quite hazy golden yellow, medium white head, creamy dissipating slowly with nice lacing. Aroma is extremely light, nearly undetectable. A bit of oak, funk and pepper if you work really hard at it. Flavor, on the other hand, is light sweet, lightly funky, a bit of bitterness, some oak, a bit of herbs and pepper, fruity yeast esters. Smooth, clean and refreshing. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. No sign of the 8% in here until later. I really like this beer, would score higher if it had a smell :P, and I would like it even more if the ABV were lower.
