3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JUL 11, 2008 Snow white head. Wheat beer in appearance, just a tad cloudy in a good way. Smells strong of pears. While some have inexplicably found it to taste ďtypicalĒ, the exotic taste blew me away. In some ways, I found notes of sun tan oil: coconut, Curacao orange. Yet, these island notes are strangely mixed up with a nostalgic old basement taste off set by vanilla. I know my description of this is moronic, I canít help it. This is a beer that needs to be tasted by the world. Follow up: i have tried it again and decided that there is a little too much alcy-burn. lowered accordingly. lowered again...every new one gets more sour and acidic

Iím having trouble deciding if this is my favorite Jolly Pumpkin beer or not - Iíve had to have a few bottles of it now; it seems to have the malt and spice flavors of a good tripple, and also some sweet malts and herbal notes that remind me of biere de garde...Ok, I guess maybe this is my favorite Jolly Pumpkin brew (for today at least..)(well, no, maybe itís the witte....). As with their other beers, this has the bonus of adding a layer of barrel aging that seems to integrate nicely into the mix. Excellent palate - smooth but filled with tiny bubbles, bursting with flavor.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A pale yellow, rather clear, with fizzy white head. Nose is some yeast and dough. Taste is crisp yeast and malt, along with some spice and citrus notes. Lighter in body. Interesting but yet underwhelming at the same time.

Bottle. Pours a hazy straw color with a large rocky white head that was mostly lasting and produced fair lacing. Good complex citrus and spice aroma. Medium body. Very good sweet and bitter flavor with a good long bitter finish.

Bottle. Iím so glad my local store has JP stuff now. Looks beautiful, golden orange color with a big, white head that gets all lumpy as it dies down. Classic spice and fruit aromas. Oakey, yeasty, citrus taste sweet with a dry, hot finish. Good stuff!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled from a 750 mL bottle at the Brewers Supply Group GABF Kickoff Party in Denver. Lightly hazy, lemon-colored body with dark, fine yeasty particulates and a pure white, persistent foamy head. Aroma has fresh light malt notes with nice orange esters, floral notes, and impressions of lime, coriander, and white pepper. Pleasing balance of rosy esters, medium phenols, honey-like malt, and some oaky dryness. Nice hop presence. Great farmhouse character with an interesting American signature.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Hazy cloudy yellow with lots of carbonation and a pollowy snow white head. Aroma is yeast and spice. Peppery and dry and quite familiar for this style. Fruityness comes up after a bit. Very active on the palate. Very dry finish. Spicy flavors on the tongue. Yeast character and a peppery presence that makes way for a little bit of a spicy hop presence. The overwealming character is the dryness. Itís real great comming after the very active taste. As it warms a bit of a sourness emerges and coats the tongue. It is sweet at the front and sour along the way to a balanced bitter finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Faint aroma of light fruits and hay. Hazy golden color with a dense white head. Nice flavor, pale malt, light fruiitiness, a little clove and pepper, and just a bit of hops. All of these flavors are nicely balanced. Medium body with moderate carbonation. One of the better beers Iíve tried from JP. As usual, Iíd like a little more malt sweetness and body, but with this style high degree of attenuation works well.
