Exotic and funky without being too out of control if that makes any sense. Carbonation is appropriately high which makes for a refreshing brew. A nice cider element comes through which I like very much. Overall, I think this is quite nice, but some purists may want something a little more feral.

Pours clear golden with a massive head. Somewhat sour aroma translates into massive sour flavor. I heard great things about this beer, but was disappointed. Perhaps I should stick to Luciernaga...

UPDATED: APR 28, 2010 1/28/06. Pours golden with a large white head. The aroma is lemon, pineapple, bananas, pears and lots of Brett. I could smell this all day. The flavor starts out sweet with pineapple, green grapes, apple and peppery, before ending with touch of funk, cobwebs. The finish is medium length and slightly tart. The moughtfeel is light and lively. Very refreshing. 9/4/8/4/16/4.1
5/13/06. One month old bottle. Similar to last bottle, but much more horsey and pineapple brett. Aroma is perfect. Very light lacto, just a touch at the end. This has an incredible amount of juicy pineapple in it. Light pepper in the finish. Plenty of body, with a nice amount of residual sugars. I can’t imagine a better bottle of this. 10/4/10/4/19/4.7

Aroma is tart and spicy with mild acidic fruity notes. Color is a a nice luminescent yellow with a mostly dimniishing white head. Lots of lemons and funkiness in the fore. Hints of pineapple and peppery spices with a pretty funky musty finish, but that tart lemony citrus flavors is what lasts in the far aftertaste. You won’t get to try something like this very often.

Hazy straw with a loose white head. Definately spicy and peppery in aroma with some pineapple and vegetable soup. Seriously, I get some Campbells vegetable stew aroma. Sharp, tart, effervescent and lusious. Has some bitterness in the mix but the other flavors pass it by and linger on the tongue. Lemony and spicy. Very interesting, lively brew. I wish I had a case to lay down as this one would be fun to taste as it matures. Thanks Walt.

Huge white head that goes quickly pillowy. Color of honey that has been in the fridge too long. Thick opague with sediment. Nose is yeast with sour hay notes. Kind of heavy flavor for a Biere de Garde but this is a fantastic ale. Thanks Jase!

Pours light gold with slight haze. Medium fluffy head eventually yields to gravity and leaves sheets of lace. Malty sweet aroma with moderate hop spice & earthy yeast. Flavor of sweet malt -- LOTS of sweetness, plus light hop bitterness, a touch of tart, and slight hop warming in the end. Thick, almost sticky palate. Too sweet for the style but still another fine exhibit of the obvious love of beercraft by the folks at Jolly Pumpkin.

Small sample at beer tasting at From The Vine in Lewis Center, Ohio. Bright yellow; tiny, fizzy head. Aroma pear, banana, and cloves. Flavor verry hoppy; banana; sugar; alcohol. Full bodied and clean.

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2009 Chill haze golden, with soapy rim of off-white. Unknowingly at the time, my first Biere de Garde. Awesom. Light aroma of chilled pears and spicy chardonnay. Tinge of esters. Tart lucious flavor. Sipper. Delicious. Woody, wild and full of random fruits. Touches of banana and cinnamon. Sweet. Extemely well balanced and full of flavor. Peculiar tart characterisitics that lend an air of sophistication. Finish is strong clingy sugars. Belgian yeast notes detectable in the finish. Heavy sugar smack.
