surffisher (147), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Apr 13, 2008 Bomber bottle. Total fizz bomb; lost a good 1/4-1/3 of the bottle upon opening. Giant rocky white head, as you might expect. Otherwise, cloudy straw/golden with some small floaters. Good head retention, featuring nice lacing. Wonderful aroma of citrus, banana, clove and pepper. Gentle, smooth taste with the aroma flavors, dominated by banana and spice. Finishes tart, dry and a bit sour. Medium bodied, effervescent, smooth. No alcohol. Great beer, though I have to penalize it (in appearance) for the initial overcarbonation.
BOLTZ7555 (599), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Dec 3, 2008 Straw colored brew with a stark white meringue head. Yeasty, funky, sour nose...with added pepper and spice, even grassy flavor. Highly drinkable...pretty solid beer. poolboy (29), Lafayette, Indiana, USA Nov 30, 2008 A Belgian Ale brewed in Michigan. I had mine in a bottle at a bar in Brooklyn. Expensive. Pours an orangeish tan. Big head. Song yeasty aroma. Not particularly sour, so it had a breadish taste with hints of banana. 502Flavors (345), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Nov 27, 2008 750 into pint glass. Really pale yellow with big white head that lasts a while. Smells deliciously balanced and refreshing with light hints of pale cereal malt and some fresh earthy hops (no alcohol). The taste is unique with a neutral warming alcohol flavor upfront that fades into some nice fruity (sweet citrus, plum, white grapes, etc) and oaky notes. Light bodied on the palate but with an unexpected and impressive texture and mouth feel. Very minimal delicate carbonation. Overall: good, unique, refreshing, though not as tart as I was hoping. KnN (351), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Nov 26, 2008 Had a bit of that wild yeast funk on the nose, but nothing overwhelming. I certainly wouldn’t classify this as a "sour" beer even with the wild yeast. Poured a hazy yellow/gold color with a fluffy white head. Flavor was a little peppery with a touch of dryness. Fairly smooth on the palate. Not bad.
CelticBrew (536), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Nov 21, 2008 Batch 261, poured from 750 ml bottle, medium golden straw color, little to no foamy head, quickly dissipated, into Chimay goblet. Aroma prominent of citrus funkalicious, yeast, raw biscuity spices. Flavour of tart, citrus funk. Sour tones with a peppery hop character that says "drink more". A lovely, tasty beer. A full on funky hop slappin pleasure.
