valpoaj (298), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA May 27, 2008 Slight bit of overflow upon cracking the bottle open...poured quickly into two glasses, and each produced a billowing head which was very persistent. Otherwise a muted gold color pour...nice looking overall. Aroma is very dry, but with lots of lingering spice...some citrus fruit as well, and a bit of black pepper. Taste is odd, but it grew on me the more I consumed this one, and by the time it was gone, I was wishing I had more. Lots of dry, citrusy fruit (lemon & orange peel), some dry leather, and some yeast mixed in. Finish was dry and sour, but the sweetness in the middle of the drink takes you on a nice ride! Should have taken better notes, but alas, I didn’t, as this was indeed a very complex Belgian. These JP beers are growing on me very quickly, and this was a winner as well.
Pinball (595), Allerød, Denmark Oct 8, 2008 750ml bottle. batch 275. from ølbutikken.
bottle started leaking while i was unpacking the rucksack. i noticed when the rucksack begun saying PFFFFFFZZZZT. Cap was still on, but beer was coming out of it nevertheless. Agressive bottle.
when i opened it after it has been standing for an hour lots of white head came out and continiued to come out for a minute or so.
appears clear yellow with a small (err.) white head.
aroma is floral, spices, sweetness. nice, but a bit perfumy.
flavor is strong from the alc, piney and sweet. brett, quite dry in the taste. actually tastes a bit like real dry white wine. thewolf (3979), Kolding, Denmark Oct 8, 2008 Bottle, bought @ Havnens Vin & Tobak, Vejle.
[batch 275]
Comes pouring out really fast - and the foam just keeps on coming! Still, a wonderful pour in the glass. Slightly hazy golden with a fine, steady, whipped-cream, white head. Super lacing. Fine duration. Lovely fruity aroma, oranges, citrus, apple and lovely brett funkiness as well. Fine, high carbonation with small bubbles. Flavour is wonderfully dry, good fruitiness. Some oranges, apricot, viniousness. Wonderful spicy finish with pepper and coriander. Great and very drinkable - almost Saison-like. Svesse (1811), Hässelby, Sweden Oct 3, 2008 (Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 20 Sep 2008) Cloudy orange/yellow colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, slightly sourish nose with notes of apricots and citrus. Sourish, fruity taste with apricots, citrus and a tart, dry finish. Rather spicy and very tasty. Very refreshing and nice. Rune (1811), Tromsø, Norway Oct 3, 2008 750ml bottle (batch 275) shared with larsga and reakt at Plan B, Copenhagen. Very alive and kicking when opened at the café. After a while we managed to take control of the spout. Hazy, golden body under a thin, white head. Great lacing on the glass. Fruit and pale malt to the nose. Flavoured with pumpkin and bittersweet fruits added a spicy touch, culminating in a satisfying, tart finish (15.09.2008). Madsnp (144), Odense C, Denmark Sep 29, 2008 Bottle. Slight hazy coloured with a lacing white head. Aromas of peppermint, wood, orangefruit and pepper. Flavour of spice, orangefruit and dry hops.
