2007 bottle, 750 ml. And I should have planned for an old bottle of Belgian wild-fermented beer mught be a gusher, but still I don’t plan. So, lots of foam, and when I stuck the bottle into my mouth to keep the beer off the carpet, I got a few bits of grain, too. Zesty smell of a beer with a nice dose of brett, or sour mash. Hazy gold color; after the big chunky gushing foam settles, it almost disappears into a slight ring. Taste is indeed spicy, and more than a bit of it still seems to come from muddled hops. Warming alcohol on a night when it’s just 4° above. Just a bit grainy, with sharp effervescence. Green apples in the foreground, lemon in the back, and just a touch of grass from either wild yeast or hops.

Cloudy yellow-beige colour with a thick but loose head. The aroma is orvallish, very herbal and dusty with assertive hopping and a subtle lemony note. Palate is spicy, tart, with juicy lemon and a whack of peppery, coriandery notes. The fnish is tart and refreshing, with an austere hop dryness. Spice reigns. Complex barrel goodness. Impressive.

Hazy golden body with a small white head. The aroma has some strong brett funk, lactic acid, green apple, oak, chardonnay, peppery alcohol, subtle fruit esters, and a hint of bready malt. The flavor is more wine like, retains some of the apple character, and finishes very dry, which seems to mute some of the sourness. Malt comes through a little more as it warms, as does some oak, and a touch of alcohol. Nice balance of sweet, sour, oak, funk and golden ale.

750 ML bottle 2013 vintage Straw yellow color, gets more hazy as more gets poured. Good bright white head. Falls to a thick collar. Spotty lacing. Nose is zesty lemon, orange, chardonnay, oak, and a mix of sea salt, gym socks, and vinegar. Taste is oak, chardonnay, coriander, orange peel, lemon peel, and spices. Brett shows up nicely. Medium bodied, subtle carbonation. ABV is more evident in the feel and finish. Far more Belgian strong ale in the mouth. Just a tad bit of sourness in the end. Damne good stuff with age

Bottle. Moderate to heavylight bread, grain and hay for the malt, moderate herbs and grass for the hops, moderate to heavy barnyard and musty for the yeast, with wood and ginger in the background. Head is huge, frothy/fizzy, white with fair lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is murky medium yellow. Flavor starts moderately to heavily acidic, then finishes moderately acidic. Palate is medium, between dry and watery, and has a fizzy carbonation. Pretty much one faceted in flavor out of it, but this Belgian Strong Ale has enough bold and diverse aromas to cover for it.

Slightly cloudy solid golden pour. Quarter inch of white head dissipated quickly. Great aroma of sour berries and crisp barnyard funk, juicy green sour apples and pear, oak, bready yeast, nice overall vinegar-y cider aroma. Average carbonation, mouthfeel is slightly tart and tingly, crisp finish. Apple, pear, champagne yeast flavors with lemon zest and a bit of cork. Crisp lighter sour, hides ABV well.

Aroma is almost lambic-like mixed with a background of yeast and spices. The flavor is fruit, pale malts, sour/barrel aging notes and a somewhat champagne/dryish finish.

Bottle. Pours nice haze neon’s yellow with golden hint and small lasting white head. Aroma has tons of apples. The Girardin ones, both green and rip ones. Dry cider’ish. Wheat, funk, oak, slight barnyard. Taste starts sweet with red ripe apples over the tongue and turns tart with green apples. Leather, oak, spicy vanilla. Medium to full well carbonated mouth coating body. Slight alcohol as it warms in the glass, but well incorporated. Delicate and yet complex.

Bottle. Pours very yellow, light orange. Has a nose of very fresh green apples, fresh sourness and gives a little bit of a cider vibe. Funky wheaty notes as well. Sweet at first sip, dry at last. Like the nose, it has lots of apples on the tongue, fresh crisp hops giving it a slight grape, and yet no real bitterness. Good!

Bright cloudy gold pour, thin white head. Nose is red liquorice and funky yeast. Bittersweet. Middle is cherries, spice, and medium malt. Finish is crisp and slightly sour. The bottle I had seemed almost like a sour, so it was not quite what I was expecting.
