4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
2007 bottle, 750 ml. And I should have planned for an old bottle of Belgian wild-fermented beer mught be a gusher, but still I don’t plan. So, lots of foam, and when I stuck the bottle into my mouth to keep the beer off the carpet, I got a few bits of grain, too. Zesty smell of a beer with a nice dose of brett, or sour mash. Hazy gold color; after the big chunky gushing foam settles, it almost disappears into a slight ring. Taste is indeed spicy, and more than a bit of it still seems to come from muddled hops. Warming alcohol on a night when it’s just 4° above. Just a bit grainy, with sharp effervescence. Green apples in the foreground, lemon in the back, and just a touch of grass from either wild yeast or hops.

Bee scrolling past this shelfie for years now, time to give it a shot. 750ml bottle, $13.99. Poured carefully as not to disturb the sediment,so it was a pretty clear gold color with a nice puffy white head. Aromas of oak, citrus, funk and pepper. Taste is very dry with some bitter notes. Flavors of wood, crotch, peppercorns, Belgian yeast phenols, citrus. Finishes pretty dry and lightly tart. Very nice.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle into a Leffe glass. Golden, carbonated and has a light white, bubbly head. Zesty wild yeast aroma, farmyard. Fresh, lightly sour, plenty of body. tangy. Having a hard time describing it but its very nice! Unfortunately due to the bottle size, unless you have a large than UK pint glass to pour into the second instalment is cloudy due to the yeast. However it doesn’t detract from the taste.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750mL bottle, Batch 531/550 bottled on 05-26-2010.
Aroma has a very large tropical fruit character from the Brett with a light cherry character. Medium light barnyard funk. Moderate phenolic spice with a light pepper note and light coriander. Faint oak note.
Pours a pale, yellow straw color that is fairly cloudy with a big pillowy white head that has fairly good retention. Medium high lacing and small legs.
Flavor has a medium light tartness with a moderate phenolic note that has a slight plastic character to it. Moderate fruit notes, mostly tropical fruit but also some sliht cherry and moderate citrus. Medium light bitterness. Lots of pepper spice as well as coriander. Light oak notes and tannins.
Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Light astringency and medium light alcohol warmth.
Overall a very enjoyable beer but the slight plastic note in the flavor is not as enjoyable add the rest of the beer. Age hadn’t hurt this beer at all and if anything has helped as the Brett character is fairly pronounced. As it warms the plastic is almost unnoticeable. Pretty nice beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
0.75l bottle from #762 shared with Inbreak and ClubGonzo. Pours a clear heather-honey-golden like colored body to begin with, but down the bottle with a heavy lacing white little sidesticking head. Oh, yeah, the aroma is filled grapy-citrus and that always-Jolly mild sour aroma that we all know so good. Smells almost like the sun! Also subtle sweet honey and smoke hints. Smells really nice! It’s subtle carbonated and it has a thin oily texture in the mouth. Flavors are also so typically Jolly; subtle but still really citrus sour with a grassy and soft yeasty tone all the way. Light and subtle alcohol hints towards the finish. Oh, yeah! This is tasty! Tastes like summer! 21.06.2012
