2007 bottle, 750 ml. And I should have planned for an old bottle of Belgian wild-fermented beer mught be a gusher, but still I don’t plan. So, lots of foam, and when I stuck the bottle into my mouth to keep the beer off the carpet, I got a few bits of grain, too. Zesty smell of a beer with a nice dose of brett, or sour mash. Hazy gold color; after the big chunky gushing foam settles, it almost disappears into a slight ring. Taste is indeed spicy, and more than a bit of it still seems to come from muddled hops. Warming alcohol on a night when it’s just 4° above. Just a bit grainy, with sharp effervescence. Green apples in the foreground, lemon in the back, and just a touch of grass from either wild yeast or hops.

With Z, pours a golden light orange color with a small ephemeral white head . Nose is straight up oak and pleasant yeast, with some nice sourness. Taste is oak as well with a pleasant fruity sourness. Finishes on he same tasting notes with a short acidic finish. Nice, a Belgian Strong Ale ??? Quaff Score 8 / 10

Bomber. Pours a golden orange with a white head and aroma of oak and spices. Taste is full of spices, with Belgian yeast notes along with strong barrel age oak and funk into the spicy, peppery finish.

375ml bottle. Yellow golden colour, frothy white foam head leaving some lacing and fruity, yeasty, funky aroma with some vanilla. Taste is grain, tart lemon rind, mellow sweet sugary, summer fruits, apricot, solventy, with woody oak, biscuit and funky yeast notes. Oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry tangy finish. Quite OK.

Bottle. Light blond with a big rocky white head. Yeasty malt aroma with some citrus hops and pepper. Light body with some prickly carbonation, yeast and some green apple wild yeast, a bit of oaky phenolic, sour and spicy. Really liking this one.

Bottle share from friend. Very pale in color, taste is initially very golden/blonde, but yeast and other elements start to make this a heavier ale. Syrupy consistency, definite Belgian yeast character, but without the pit fruit elements in a lot of the strong ales.

Tap at the brewpub, Detroit. Pours lemon yellow, light ring of white head. Aroma is lemon, clove, sour note, lightly oaky, some Belgian spices. Really pleased with this. Flips back and forth with the sour and sweetness. Excellent.

In the finish medium sour with nice oaky and low sweet finish. Very balanced, not too sour, very refreshing amd tasty.

Backlog. Shared bottle of batch 463 at Mi2 at Cardinal 06.05.13. Pale golden, almost clear. Aroma of gueze. Taste is sour at first, then more balanced, but still with some acid. There is more hops and sweetness in aftertaste, but still with sourness. Medium to dry mouthfeel. High drinkability.
