| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 28, 2009 Rusty orange and hazy. The usual heavy webbing jp foam. Aroma is spicy, grassy, and with lots of wooden barrel sour funk. Bolstering it is a buttery or creamy chardonnay like sweetness. After the glass warms for a bit the sweetness of cherries and citrus starts to envelop it, and i can smell how dry its going to be with aromas of sesame seeds and cardamom.
Flavor is a lot of dry tastes; brown spices, pear, white wine; theres some almost garlic clove like sweetness that sits in brown sugar and cinnamon. The lactic acid and general tartness are definitely present but the warmth of the spiciness surrounds them. Sandalwood and an earthy sweetness of red fruits shows the richness of the malts and lets all the brighter flavors sort of dart fickly round the top of the beer instead of getting boring.
Crisp, acidic palate; busy yeasts give a dry and musky finish thats good and lasting. Not earth shattering maybe, but warm and pleasant; highly enjoyable to drink. Huge thanks to Derek for this one! blutt59 (2186), Dallas, Texas, USA

Sour and tart aroma. Sweet notes but tartness prevails. Taste is tart but in the greatest way. Nice balance. This is a sour I can relate to.
