Bottle. Pours deep brown with an off-white head. Aroma of malt, sour berries, chocolate, funk and yeast. Flavor is sweet and sour with some caramel and rosted notes. Medium body, average carbonation. Nice beer.

A: The beer pours a dark brownish color, with a thin layer of off-white head. S: Perhaps not entirely surprisingly, there is a strong vinegar aroma (balsamic?) as well as what seems to be red wine. A bit of fruitiness in the form of raisins and cherries. Lots of oak with a really leathery note. T: Starts of with more balsamic vinegar and sour cherry. Still plenty of leather with a slight vinous character. The finish has some red wine vinegar, oak, and is just an extreme sourness. M: This one is medium in body with some medium to light carbonation. O: I think I would just prefer to have any number of other Jolly Pumpkin beers, but this wasn’t bad.

Bottle shared by Ogglethorp at Muckfest II on 6/25/11. Black pour with a thin tan head. Sour nose with some roasty chocolate, sour cherries and funk. Sour black cherry flavor with roasted malt and bitter chocolate and a charcoal character before a tart finish.

Flaske: Brun uklar øl med et lille skumhoved. Duften er klassisk amerikansk sour ale. En god del tobak og lakrids i duften. Ikke så sur som jeg havde regnet med og yderst balanceret. Fin fin øl.

Thanks to wedgie for the massive hookup! Bottle pours deep brown with a khaki head. Aroma is full of lactic goodness, with notes of sour cherry/berry, malt and a touch of funk. Flavor shows the same with additional stonefruit, as well as a slight hint of cocoa. Overall body is moderate with light to moderate acidity.

Tasted on 12/19/10 from a 12oz bottle obtained in a trade, with the AZ Crew. Pours nearly black with no head whatsoever. The nose is dark malt with some sour and funky notes, and a good amount of vinegar and lemon tartness. The flavor is sour and vinegar with just a hint of dark malt and lemon. The body is medium with light carbonation and a long sour and vinegar finish.

wedgie9 with a bad ass hookup!!!! Pours very dark, light colored head. Fruity, funky, sour, oak, cherries, vinous aroma. Flavor is funky as hell, JP yeast for sure stands out, stone fruits, cherries, vinegar, oak, dry yeasty awesomeness!

Bottle shared @ BA gathering. Pours a dark reddish brown color with a thin off white head. The aroma is actetic with nice tart fruits (cherry, berries), cocoa and some roast and hefty oak. The flavor opens actetic and tart with cherry being the most prominent fruit. The typical JP funk comes through. The finish shows more of the cocoa and roast from the Madrugada and oak. This is definitely a solid beer.

Dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of dried fruit and chocolate, some funk, some cherry and a hint of acetone. Sour and funky flavour with lots of berry notes.
