COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour, barrel-aged version of the beer by the same name. Brewed in collaboration with Maui brewing.

Yes, Michigan and Hawaii are connected. It should be obvious to you now, as you hold this beer, and read this label. John and I designed this beer with two noble fruits from two noble states, Michigan & Hawaii. Cherries and liliko’i. Starting to see the connection? I feel it. So does John. 4391 miles may separate our breweries, but no our thirst for the exquisite. Hipa! -Ron

Working with Ron is something I’ve always want to do since I had my first Jolly Pumpkin beer. Years later, it’s a reality. Being involved on this project was an honor and a privilege. Mahalo to my MBC crew and to you, fans of craft beer! -John

On tap at the A2 brewpub. Pours a clear deep ruby amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice tart red fruit note with and underlying dark grain and a bit of bitterness. Flavor begins with tart red fruits with a bit of acid that mellows to a dark grain and roasted finish.

Thanks, GT! Pours amber in color with a khaki head. Light tartness on the nose, somewhat acetic with balsamic vinegar, leather, and oak. A touch of malt sweetness, mild fruitiness, and faint funkiness. Similarly basic/simple in terms of the flavor. Tart fruit and a bit of vinegar. Light malt sweetness, oak, and maybe some leather. Dry on the finish.

Thanks to pepsiedcan. Bottle. Pours a murky amber with a white head consisting of fine bubbles. Aroma of fruit, bananas, oak. First sip reveals a very easy drinking beer. Low carbonation. Not over sour or cloying at all. This is a nice change of pace. Easy drinking entry level sour that hits all the right spots. Like.

Bottle pours a murky reddish color with off white head. Aroma is tart cherry peel, funk, leather, and is pretty earthy. Highly carbonated and is real lively. Tastes like it smells and is a bit green right now. I think this is solid right now and will be even better with a touch of age on it.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2013 Amber color, with a touch of pink. Less head than most Jolly Pumpkin brews. Cherries dominated aroma, but taste was mostly sour. Lemon like. Pepper showed up in after-taste. Rerated after having 1 year old bottle. More sour lemon taste and big enduring head!

Draft. Poured a hazy reddish brown color with an average fizzy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy sour, tart cherry and wood aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour & tart flavor with a medium to heavy tart & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer for style.

Will it get better and brighter, maybe? Is it great right now, yes! The aroma alone is worth it.

Sample at the Pints For Pelotonia charity tasting on 07/21/12: Hazy orange pour with a medium thick off-white head that diminishes slowly. Top ring of lacing on the glass with spots underneath. The aroma is fruity with notes of oak and yeast. Medium body with a funky character and notes of sour cherry, oak, yeast and malt. The finish is fruity with a tart aftertaste. Pretty good beer overall.

Pours a murky amber color with a small light brown head. Aroma is tart cherries, passionfruit and a bit of jolly pumpkin funk, smells delicious, no odd acetone hints and just a bit of vinegar. Taste is tart cherries and this odd sour flavor I can’t pick out at the end taste, starts juicy and puckers your mouth out with a dry finish. Not as sour as I was hoping for, but it is still one he’ll of brew.
