3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours out a lightly reddish golden color with not much of an off white head. Aroma is of lots of brett, some lightly medicinal characteristics, plastic, band aid and light funk. Some sweet fruity notes, plastic and some oak. Taste is complex, funky brett with notes of band aid, plastic, medicinal notes and leather. Some tart/sweet fruity notes that linger around with the brett and bring some sweetness to some otherwise tart sour notes. Finishes sour with some light notes of sweetness and mild vinegary/funky/woodsy brett. Solid, but the palate was a bit lighter than I would have liked.

Bottle - 2012. Pours clear amber with a small lasting off-white head. Aroma is tart fruit, passion fruit, tropical fruits, caramel, funk, acetone, lactic - mild yoghurt and oak. Taste is light+ sweet, light bitter and tart. Body is near medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Finishes tart and mineral. Great drinkability.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
My Bottom Line:
Raspberries, cherries, candy-like esters (bubblegum?) and mild earthy funk coalesce in this bright and tart brew.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the cloudy pale red.
-Pediococcus ropiness is felt but thankfully not smelled.
-The fruitiness is well developed and not bothered by the wild yeast.
-This may not be the most accomplished JPumpkin brew, but it is certainly a wonderful summer-y drink for wilderness lovers.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Fish & Beer (Bottled 04-26-2012) pours reddish, slightly hazy with good, soapy head. Aroma is oak and lots of it, brett, sour berries (red currants, overripe goose berries). Quite big in mouth, fizzes up and sinks smoothly. Taste is sour, oak, same as aroma with a bit of raisins and vanilla. Well worth the money, and way better than the canned version! Cheers!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A cloudy orange pour with pinkish/reddish intonations is quickly left foamless. Juicy, attractive nose with plenty of phenolic wildness, spicy, almost leathery, flowery, very fruity. Cranberries and sour cherry notes are prominent and feeling rather green, not overly ripe and blending well with the oak’s own tannins. I did not like it so much after the first few sips, but going through the 750 ml, I started appreciating its relative drinkability for a wild beer whose flavor profile is fairly impactful. The finish is long, dry and fruity, tasty yet no exagerated, maintaining a sense of composure and humility. It is good stuff, if not particularly complex, but considering the 18$ price tag on my 750 ml, I’m not sure I’d buy again.

Bottle @ Hall Toll, Stavanger. Hazy dark orange body, big white head.
Aroma is balsamico, biscuits, vanilla, wood and hints of caramel in the back. Taste is red berries, wood, mineral salts, balsamico and hints of grains.
Medium body and carbonation. Classic JP, and very nice to boot.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle, with a little sticker on it denoting "batch 1". Hazy red-tinted amber, beige head. Aroma is sour with sweet malty and cherry notes. The palate delivers sour cherries, sweet brown malt, yoghurty lactic notes, and a beautiful rounded oaky character that keeps this sour beer super smooth into the finish. Crazy drinkable, complex-- awesome! This is so much better than their Hawaiian partner’s rendition.

Pours a murky brown with a rose tinge. Aroma of tart cherries and barnyard funk. Tastes of sour cherries, oak, Dexter funk, some sweetness and light earthy tones. Very enjoyable. Finishes crisp but not overly tart. Very well done.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours reddish/pink and cloudy. Sulphur (farts) on the nose and a huge dollop of cherries. While you get a sourness straight away there is also a sweetness in the background of unripe fruit. Sour, tart and funky. I’ve never eaten lilikoi before but if is just a type of passion fruit i want more. Thanks to Sean barman The Vintage, Leith.
