COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour, barrel-aged version of the beer by the same name. Brewed in collaboration with Maui brewing.

Yes, Michigan and Hawaii are connected. It should be obvious to you now, as you hold this beer, and read this label. John and I designed this beer with two noble fruits from two noble states, Michigan & Hawaii. Cherries and liliko’i. Starting to see the connection? I feel it. So does John. 4391 miles may separate our breweries, but no our thirst for the exquisite. Hipa! -Ron

Working with Ron is something I’ve always want to do since I had my first Jolly Pumpkin beer. Years later, it’s a reality. Being involved on this project was an honor and a privilege. Mahalo to my MBC crew and to you, fans of craft beer! -John

Aroma is pomegranite forward but not sweet. Great wheat tones. Pours dull lavender with great hazy sour. Taste is great with pomegranate forward but not overly sweet. Well balanced and a delight to drink. Nice wheat and yeast notes compliment this tamed fruit. Good stuff.

Hazy brown and rust coloured body with a very thin tan head and a burnt orange glow - very nice. Aroma of sour grapes, cherries, raspberries, yeast, lemons and a bunch of passionfruit - very nice and super mouth watering. Medium-bodied; Assertive yeast up front with oodles of sour qualities most of them related to fruits - but all are very nice. Aftertaste shows a hint of light malt, no carbonation or movement at all with a pungent sour note and a subdued sweetness. Overall, one of the better sour beers that I’ve had in a long time, and one that should be sampled by everyone, if you can find it! I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 11-December-2012 for US$19.25 sampled at home in Washington on 23-June-2013. Bottle. Mostly clear reddish-orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is tart, sour, and fruity, cherries and passion fruit coming through. Taste is mild sweet, with the familiar JP funk and acidity. Finish is very dry. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Solid.

Batch 6 5/10/12. Poured a rich clear reddish copper with a khaki head that didn’t last but left some nice lacing. aroma when this was 1st poured in my glass got a strong harsh sour cherry aroma and some herbs, as it warmed the heavy sourness gave way the a nice mild sourness and got some sweetness like honey. flavor tart cherries and lemon zest, floral. GOOD BEER

Pours a deep reddish amber from the bottle into tulip. Big creamy off white head that retains a bit for a sour. Big sour notes with tropical fruits, lots of cherries, and vinegar. BIG sour start, with lots of fruit. Mellows as it goes down without much lingering on the palate. Dry start to finish. Light and effervescent. A true sour first beer. Good stuff.
