COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour, barrel-aged version of the beer by the same name. Brewed in collaboration with Maui brewing.

Yes, Michigan and Hawaii are connected. It should be obvious to you now, as you hold this beer, and read this label. John and I designed this beer with two noble fruits from two noble states, Michigan & Hawaii. Cherries and liliko’i. Starting to see the connection? I feel it. So does John. 4391 miles may separate our breweries, but no our thirst for the exquisite. Hipa! -Ron

Working with Ron is something I’ve always want to do since I had my first Jolly Pumpkin beer. Years later, it’s a reality. Being involved on this project was an honor and a privilege. Mahalo to my MBC crew and to you, fans of craft beer! -John

(Blend 1, bottled 04-26-2012)Hazy dull honey brown complete with a noisy short lived crown. Sour drool inducing aroma, so much tropical fruit, mostly pineapple, papaya, malts are leathery. This style normally doesn’t do it for me but either this is really good or sours are growing on me. Sour fruity tropical punch I tell you. Light body with sour punch....... drinks easy. Flavour is light it seems mostly just a tasteless sour but if you pay attention you hit leathers, pineapple, tropical everything. The dryness reminds of hibiscus flowers. This is good the end.

Bomber. Hazy orange with an off white head that thins out. Malty lychee, tart cherries, acedic, malty and sour, some lemon zest. Moderate carbonation and body, fruit and malt, sour and an odd aftertaste. I don’t know what it was but this combination of flavours just didn’t do it for me and I actually drain poured the rest of my glass after trying a few times to drink more.

Light amber coloured and hazy. Has a white head, lasting. Acieid aroma, berries, light bread. Acidic flavot too. Dry texture and heavy carbonated.

Huge thanks to GT2 for saving a bottle of this for me! Clear amber pour. Nose and flavor bring outrageously delightful tangerine, earthy brett, vinous barrel red wine style tartness, cheesecloth. Very tart on the tongue. Tons of fruit character mixing with a complex sour profile. Outstanding.

A hazed dark amber ale with a thin mocha head, In aroma, a nice mix of sour cherries, kiwi, passion fruit, and acetic acid. In mouth, a nice smooth fruity malt with fruit acidity, passion fruit, lichee, very nice. Shared with GRM, Pushkinwow, and Ian, March 8 2013.

Bottle 750ml. Pours dark amber with low beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is of fruits, acid, tropical fruits, armpit, some artificial stuff. Tastes is of fruits (including tropical), sligthly acid, sour. Palate: Ligth body. Overall: OK, not bad. Nothing really outstanding here imo.

750ml bottle, thanks to GT2! Poured a ruby/amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma has some notes of sour and light malts. Flavor is touch of tropical fruits, caramel notes and some yeast notes.

Bottle. Nice clear reddish golden with a fluffy white head. Caramel, cherry, and tart green apple aroma. Silky bright palate. Tastes of tart cherry, bright lemon, caramel, and green apple and finishing with sour dough and toffee flavors. Well done.

The beer is clear with an amber body and a small, off white head. The aroma brings brett funk, tropical fruits, candy, Jolly Pumpkin yeast strain. Much improved over the Maui Brewing Co. version, this one has some nice, delicate funk and complexity to it. Tropical fruit notes pop out quite a bit, and are balanced by funky, yeasty character. Light to medium in body. A balance of sweet and sour. Pretty tasty.
